We were salvaging some equipment at work and I grabbed this pedal before it went in the dumpster. It was used to operate a large meat grinder.

I would like to hook it up to my drill press, but am not sure how this pedal works.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The contacts for the two standard limit switches inside are clearly marked:
COMMON
NORM CLOSED
NORM OPEN

For a simple home 120VAC drill press only one switch is used. Run a 3-wire cable with Black White and Green conductors to the switch.

Connect the green wire at both ends to the metal part of the drill press and switch. It looks like you could probably use one of the silver screws that hold down the switches since the ground screw in the upper left seems to be missing.

Connect the white wire to one of the wires that go to the present motor switch with an appropriate size wire nut. Then connect the other end to the NORM OPEN screw terminal of the left switch. Mark both ends of the white wire with black electrical tape.

Connect the black wire to the other wire that went to the present motor switch with an appropriate size wire nut. Connect the other end to the COMMON screw terminal of the left switch.

Secure the wire cord with the appropriate cord grips at each end.

The pedal switch would be used to control the coil circuit of the motor starter.

Unless your drill press has a magnetic motor starter, it will probably not be suitable for a large motor.

PM me with your telephone number and we can discuss wiring the switch to your equipment.
