Say I tried to ask for a sample of the Better Life stick on diamond floor tile, and was offering to pay for a full piece of tile. I thought it would look nice on a small steel door housing some pipes. It would also be a good opportunity to see what its about and compare with my Race Deck samples.

I have been thinking of RaceDeck and will probably start next year.

Both licensed Better Life vendors said they werent allowed to send a whole sample tile, just a small slice. They werent allowed to even SELL one tile. One guy was pure RUDE and NASTY and angrily said "Im not in the business to sell ONE tile".

Its not like RaceDeck where they are happy to send you a full sample, or buy a sample through Big Floors. Its a big investment for some, so the customer should get a sample. No questions. They even do this for 'regular' flooring tile stores and we were given full samples when we were choosing stone tile for the interior of our house. "Just take it...and have a cup of coffee..." they say. No problems, no questions.

I have even bought one extra Race Deck high gloss tile from Big Floors - no shipping.

So Im thinking RaceDeck hands down. Dont even bother with the other ****.

I can guess who the angry guy was, but if you are not particular on color I can certainly get you two tiles for samples. While the manufacturer does not make full size samples available to us, I know I can get my hands on a couple.

We send the interlocking tiles out in full size all the time. For one reason or another it has been harder with this product.

Big Floors sent me 2 full sized samples of the garage deck. That being said for what it would cost to do my garage I would have to get a lot more samples. I wish someone made one that was about $1 a SF. even if it wasn't as heavy duty as long as it wouldn't crack under a jack it would work for me.

Most of us send out two full size tiles on the interlocking ones. PVC and self stick is another issue. For $1 per square foot you may want to look at some of the VCT threads. Looking at the cost of raw materials just can't happen.

I recieved my sample tiles late last week and thanks Justin for replying in a timely manner. I put the tiles down in a relatively high-traffic area and will see how they hold up!

Overall I am initially very impressed with the peel and stick tiles. I also have RaceDeck samples that I put side-by-side. I have had my RD tiles for about a year and they are still looking good after some scuffs, dust and dirt.

I can say that I am real impressed with both products. The peel and stick tiles took me by surprise however, especially with the fit and finish.

I know there's going to be some posts re. concerns about them being applied with adhesive, but if they settle in like the instructions say, it shouldnt be too much of a problem for what I may be using them for (2 car general household garage). I do not have any heavy equipment needs and dont do alot of work on cars (e.g. grease, oil, solvents), just gardening and gardening chemicals, house repair and some light woodworking and hobbies. I live in Northern California, so I wont have to endure extreme cold temperatures, just summers when the temp. is consistently in the 90s. So lets see how the adhesive holds up....

We would be happy to send our Premium garage floor tile samples as well if you would like.

Adhesion: They adhere well to a clean, primed floor. We use Behr 880. In fact they are very difficult to get off, but it can be done with a putty knife. In Fact, this is the same adhesive we sell in commercial and industrial applications for our g-floor product. It comes in 37" rolls.

If it was my floor and I wanted a high gloss (and stain resistant) look, I would use the G-Floor Top Coat.

I live in Las Vegas, and I haven't had any trouble with the adhesive holding up so far. I have only had the BLT peel and stick tiles for 3-4 months though. The one thing I'll warn you against, is don't get the white tiles. Every scuff and bit of dirt shows up on them, and it's almost impossible to keep them clean.

Also, I wouldn't install them when it is warm out. I installed mine at the beginning of summer when it was quite warm in the garage. I got a swamp cooler in the middle of the summer and started running it most of the time. There is now a noticeable gap that averages about 1/16" between all the tiles now. I don't know if its because the tiles of shrunk or normal expansion/contraction since it's a lot cooler in the garage now that I've been using a swamp cooler regularly keeping it between 75-80 degrees.

White Tiles: I absolutely agree. White tiles or white flooring in general is a pain to keep clean and is prone to staining more than gray or silver. I usually try and talk customers out of a white floor and into gray or at minimum if the white is going to be used to add the stain block top coat.

Expansion and contraction: This surprises me. I have a couple of questions. Did you prime the floor prior to applying the tiles? Would you be able to send me a photo of the floor with something for a frame of reference such as a tape measure or the edge of a penny? Where did you acclimate the tile... In your garage, another room... How long?

Do you have a good cleaner to try. I've tried the Armstrong Once and Done with our Hoover Floormate to clean them and it worked ok, not as good as I'd like. Is there something better than I can clean the floor with and then put a sealer on it? I'm wondering if a commercial floor scrubber might do a better job

I let the tile acclimate in the garage a good 2-3 weeks before installing it. I have Delta-FL with OSB on top of it, kind of like the Dri-core product. I primed the OSB with some KILZ 2 latex primer before putting the tile down. I still have a small section of the garage yet to do, as that is where I stored most of the stuff while I was putting down the floor. I was going to wait until it cooled off to move it completely out of the garage to put down the rest of the tile, but don't know if that is going to work now with the gaps I have.

I'll try to get some pics tonight with a reference for the size of the gap, but here is one without any reference.

In checking into this, it looks like you had contacted the manufacturer directly about this. I spoke with them today and we would like to know how many stained white tiles you have and what the total size of the garage is.

Glad to be of service. You will get enough of the top coat to cover the whole floor! It is an awesome product and I wish more folks would use it. Just buy a good roller and follow the instructions
