Peel and stick vinyl tiles

I was thinking about using these tiles on my garage walls,(osb).Has any one out there done this? Any problems? I do live in Ohio so it is cold in the winter.

Don't do it. The adhesive does not hold up against gravity and heat.

I have always run a skim coat of solvent based adhesive before laying self-stick tiles. You can even get them off after that. Don't be surprised if they separate at the joints a bit in your climate. Lay them warm, not cold.

The tiles won't adhere well to OSB. If you read the install directions, it will most likely state that it can not be applied over OSB.

I'll bet if he sands and seals the OSB first and uses the skim coat, it will work. Only time will tell for sure.

Hey Zeke, mind telling me what sort of solvent based adhesive you are using. All the 'official' flooring adhesive seems to be water based in SoCal these days. It had occurred to me I might find something else but hadn't taken then the extra step. Thanks

Zeke's suggestion not withstanding, I would generally agree. What is your end goal? Are you just looking to create a checker pattern on the wall or something? I am wondering if you might not be able to get the same effect more easily with a thick glossy paint and some masking tape.

I used them in my kitchen on the floor...and they shift all over the place. I doubt they would hold up well on the wall.

Also used them on a floor with horrible results. Shifting, gaps, etc. Can't imagine they would do well on OSB at all. Perhaps some other kind vinyl tile adhered with contruction adhesive?

Strange, i've had peel and stick in my laundry room for 10 years and they haven't moved. On concrete i cleaned though. They were meant to just be tempory but they're not 1/2 bad looking.
