So far I haven't found any inormation on this vise Its marked Peerless #0 New York so It must be from that begining era for the vise company The jaws are tall and slim indicating a wood working vise
There is a large pin that is stick for the rear jaw . Remove that pin and the rear jaw swivels for holding tapered pieces .
The replaceable jaw faces are smooth for wood working . It appears to have had a semi hard life from the hammer dings The law faces need to be smoother to get a nice close match up
I intend to pretty up the vise and put it to use in my shop
