Peg board and high humidity

I have a small shed out back that i would like to put done pegboard in. It's a steel kit shed that is water proof, but we get pretty high humidity here in the Florida panhandle. Will regular pegboard hold up to humidity? Or will it swell up as if it were wet?

South Carolina here, low country. Particle board peg board here in Garage. 30 years on it so far.

I'd paint (two coats or more) both sides. It will absorb moisture and 'expand'.

agree, but I personally have bad luck with metal in my area ( high humidity , but perhaps the killer is SALT as I am coastal ) . I have no trouble at all with interior wooden items, my wooden pegboard in the garage is A OK ( mine came painted on the front face , I have not done anything extra to it eg sealing in the rear face) . I have a workbench that has a rear metal pegboard that I don't even use and yet every scratch spreads to a cancerous rust...Just a thought...my situation might be/ probably is.. extreme

I am a big pegboard fan and installed 18 sheets in my shop and painted it white. No problem with humidity but I did want to post that you should get hardened or tempered pegboard 1/4" thick. It's a bit hard to find but everything else has degraded to 3/16" unhardened pegboard which is compressed cardboard. Just won't hold up.

One last suggestion is to use only 1/4" diameter hooks and other hardeware. Most stuff now is 1/8" and very weak. I also use peg-locks so the hook does not try to come off the wall when I remove the tool.

If you're worried, I'd roll some paint on it like white. It should help seal it up and also brighten the shed up too. I'd make sure to use plenty of fasteners when you hang it to lessen your chances of warping.
