PegBoard Ideas? Pics?

Have any of you guys built a frame around your pegboard or have done something unique to make your pegboard look better?

"If you got pics of what you have done, please post em up."

I got two sheets and I dont just want to hang em up,or just lean em. I was kind of hoping someone could help me out, I got a 8ft(L)x3ft(W) workbench. Is it too deep to hang the pegboard behind it? Any help I would gladly appreciate. Thanks in advance

3' is pretty deep to reach over. I just did a 24" deep bench and with the pegboard fairly low (2'x4' brushed aluminum), the top wouldn't be reachable.

I've seen pegboard done on hinges that looked pretty cool. Do them like pages in a book so you can swing them out to get what you need, but push them back against the wall for more workspace.

Yeah I didnt really think I would want the pegboard directly above the bench, but after looking thats what I wanted lol. Pages huh? Kind of like those poster displays at wal mart with the swinging arm. Thats an idea... Hmm.

You said you just built a workbench? I wanna see it?

I baught mine in white it was the same price as the plain only frame I hae around mine is behind it to hold it off the wall so the pegs go in easy.

I bought the white stuff too. I think it was 2 dollars more per sheet. Then I ripped 1X4 at a 45 and made a French Cleat (that's cleat, not **** !) to hang it. I framed the back edges and bottom in 1X4 also so that it'd hang flat while hanging from the cleat (not **** !) I'll see if I can snap a picture for you.

French cleats are great for hanging cabinets and shelving units also. It makes re-arranging things as needed easy.

Hmmmm...

You could build a frame that would bring the peg-board out from the wall. Make it any size you want, but hang it higher so it won't impede your use of the bench.

Just an idea.

I bought one of those metal pegboards...it was red in color to match my tool box and cabinets....it looks fine w/o a frame around it...mind you I use to hang pics of my kids (gee a couple of years ago I would never had thought I would be saying that) Jeep trips and my Goldens...got those cool looking magnets that look like disc brakes to attach the pics

i am with Cutch on this.. bought the metal boards in blue.. they have a lip around them so they sit about 1/2" off the wall... they are awesome!

It's kinda funny....you garage has some of the same charactestics as mine does...a Jeep...a battery on the floor....a bottle of beer on the bench...the same Jeep History poster and the same Jeep calender....too funny

yes those tables came from a kitchen in a local restaurant.. i need to take the legs off and raise them up a few inches.. but they are awesome... especially since they were free...

Learn from my mistake. Pegboards come with more than one size of thickness. The hooks for the thinner pegboard will not work on the thicker kind. You have to return all the hooks and hangers to the store PITA and then go to the return to get it taken off your credit card PITA AGAIN etc.

Make sure you buy the right stuff the first time!

I like them for storing tubes of stuff like Loc-tite or rolls of tape.

A tip to make the peg board look better if you planning on painting it. Sand the peg board with fine sand paper before you paint it. The painted peg board will look much better, than just spraying over unpreped pegboard. I used a small piece of wood and framed a boarder around the back, this allows hooks to be inserted easily. You would be surprised how much brighter your workshop will be with white or gray paint, compared to the plain wood finish.

hey john... ya i have given up on fixing the leaks.. everytime i take it out and drag those diff covers over every rock out there, they spring a small leak..

got two years until i retire... and move back to the right coast..

Yeah, I know this post is four years old but I see that JohnK007 is still active.

Any pics of your pegboard? My garage walls are stucco'd block and I'd like to hand some framed pegboard with a French cleat.

Any help is appreciated.
