Pegboard question

I am putting some plywood on my garage walls. I have mounted 2 short rail systems to hold heavy stuff like yard tools. I have too much stuff to afford rail systems for everything.

Are there different quality level pegboards? Mine are old and warp easily and look bad- what are the choices?
are there any plastic pegboards?

The prefinished "Garage Liner" pegboard that Home Depot has is tempered and has a tough finish on it see it here: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=140674

I don't use pegboard too weak. What I use is sheetrock screws straight in the plywood and for heavier things use lag bolts or all thread, with a nut and washer on the back.

I can only vouch for the quality of their hooks, as I already had the raw pegboard - but if their plastic pegboard is of the same quality, it's a home run: http://wallpegstore.com/

Hey hifi hokie,
Thanks for using our product, we are really glad it has been working out for you! We wanted to let you and everyone in the thread know that Wallpeg Store is having a summer sale for our online store (10% off any order through Sept. 3rd 2013). Just use the code summer10 when checking out.

Enjoy the summer!

Depends on what you want to spend...I have brushed aluminum pegboard from DiamondLife that I use over my tool bench that is plenty strong, but it came at a price. I also had to use plastic hooks that were designed to fit snugly in pegboard holes...the standard metal hooks and such designed for normal (MDF) pegboard would not stay put in the metal stuff, regardless of whether or not you used the plastic clips to hold them in place. That said, it looks like they now offer a backing board for their metal offerings that would eliminate this problem.

I've got the tempered hardboard, with the white finish in my shop. It's about an 1/8" thicker than the standard stuff at the box stores. I think it comes in at 5/16" Any way I have a fair amount of it near my machine tools and it holds BXA tool holders, collets, live centers etc. I'm happy with it, also the white surface can be wiped down if it gets nasty, going for about $16-$18 a sheet right now.
