Hi, everyone! I have a question about pegboard. I'll start with some background.

I rent, and I have a small laundry room that serves as a substitute for a garage for now. I do a little bit of electronics work from time to time, and I still have my general/automotive tools in there as well.

It's very crowded.

I like the idea of putting up pegboard on all the walls and storing my tools on the walls.

However, I need to have access to the electrical outlet and water connections. The water connections I only really need to use when it gets cold and I have to let the water drip to prevent pipe damage.

Is there a graceful way to cover the walls while maintaining access to the outlet and water connections?

Cut a hole in the pegboard for the outlet, put an extension on the outlet box to bring it flush with the surface of the pegboard. For the water connections, you can cut a hole as well and it trim it out, maybe?

Or plywood, etc., paint it to look nice. You can put the screws exactly where you want them, not limited by the holes and the expensive hangers. When I had pegboard, seems like there was always some stuff that wouldn't fit the hangers.

I mounted a power strip on the left side of my pegboard. Gave me 6 plugs and 2 USB plugs.

Plug a light or radio into the other plug and cover the outlet with pegboard.

Might just hinge part of the peg board for access to the water. My Grand Dad had this setup for a small section in his garage. Not sure if it was to access anything but he did hide a pistol and his smokes behind it.
