Hey guys and gals, what kind of pegboards and bins and such do you guys have? I'm in the process of doing some reorganizing in my shop and was hoping for some good ideas and pictures. Anyone...................?

Like everyone I've got too small of a garage (30x40) and I have my show truck and motorcycle in one bay and a lift in the center bay and a BIG mill and lathe in the other one. I just scored a good deal on a set of premade truss's and am going to add on to put the truck and bike in a seperate bay from the work area. Mainly, I just wanted some ideas for pegboard stuff and lesser used tools placement stuff.

Thanks

I screwed the pegboard onto a 3/4 plywood. Then I used hooks to hold my tools. By doing
this I made it look neater and was able to hang heavier tools on the board.

Costco has bins that can be used for more bulkier supplies. I find it better to separate supplies so I can see what I have and am able to get what I am looking for.

I've been meaning to get some pics up, but I cant "import" pics from another site that I'm on alot. I'm going to get my wife to put some pics on for me soon. Is this site like the FTE, in that you have to have so many posts before you can upload pics to your gallery or whatever?

I've been using mine for the little things that I buy for just in case and other small things that can be hung--in addition to all the normal stuff like extension cords.

Hack saw blades, saws, boxes of screws, replacement pump for a coleman stove, etc... All hanging so you can't forget you've got them and they are easy to find.

I bought sheets of peg board at home depot. I made a grooved frame for it out of 2X2s that I ripped down on my table saw. I added some decking screws and spacers in several places throughout for added security. I thought they turned out pretty well...

I have used sheets of 1/2 plywood painted to the preferred color (gloss, easy to clean) and did the tool lay out with sheet rock screws (different lengths). I hate when the peg board hooks fall off with the tool. It allows the board to be set with different spacing for different size tools. I would also space the lower edge off the wall slightly to get the tools to lay on to the board.

My best tool hanger idea I stole from the fancy garden store Smith & Hawkins. Thet display their shovels, rakes etc. on racks made from black iron pipe. These racks allow me to store 25 or so rakes, shovels, brooms in an 8 ft long section of wall space. One rack can hold 3 axes, 1 maul, and 1- 5 lb. sledge hammer in the small space between the garage door and outside wall. To make one rack you need (2) 1" x 12" long black iron pipe. (2) 4 bolt flanges and (2) end caps. I bolted these to an 8 ft. length of 1/2" plywood using
(4) 1/4 carridge bolts. The plywood is then screwed to the studs with 1/4" lag bolts. I used different spacing between each pair of brackets to accomidate shovels, brooms etc.

I am in the process of organization myself and just built a new bench and added two sheets of pegboard. I built a 2X4 picture frame with a support down the center. I have done it this way before and its held up well. I hang alot of my tools on pegboard for the sheer convenience of it. Some people don't like it this way but I find it to be more productive for me.
Using 2X4 under the pegboard does render the holes on the very ends useless but I never hang things on the very ends anyway.

I bought a few bins and baskets from the Tractor supply website because they were cheap with a coupon I had. I don't have them yet but I can add my thoughts about them later.

I added a few pictures of what I have so far.

I just bought a set of these tool trays from Grizzly for $15.95 + shipping and I am pretty impressed for what they are. Strong magnetics and a rubber bumper to keep from scratching the toolbox. As a matter of fact I bought another set to take to work and use on my toolbox there.

I have some similar in a clashing blue color I love them they give me back some bench space. I store my oils in drip bottles and Dulco grease guns in them for quick access.

BTW to the OP I use grid slat wall panels hooks are cheap and easy to manipulate to your desired configuration.

I'm doing up some pegboard as well. There are quite a few informative threads in the archives about this.

I like the looks of the Goriot's stuff.
