The pelican factory is near me and a tradesman who does work for me does work there too. Said that the business changed hands and wondered if the quality was going to change. Anyone notice a change in the their gear?

The old stuff was top notch, that I used, though I've never owned any of it. Always wanted a few things though.

I can't vouch for anything made recently but i've been using a Pelican case on my motorcycle as a top box for ten years & just recently started having a problem with the gasket not wanting to stay in it's groove. Top notch stuff though & tough.

I had not heard they changed hands, but that pelican bought out Hardig case co.
I have 3 pelican cases, one of them is 3 months old, is exactly the same as the older ones.

The last one I bought (2 years ago) seems fine. Though I am disappointed they changed their warranty card. It always read that the warranty was voided by 'shark bite, bear attack or children under 5'. I'm guessing the lawyers didn't like the humor.

My girlfriend works in the medical field and has to travel and they provide pelican cases for all their medical equipment, amazing cases from what i have seen. I'm not sure how old they are, maybe a year or two at most and are very sturdy.

I use mine as my road toolbox. Its new this year in April and has held up fantastic for being checked in into a plane every week. 46 pounds with my tools and it gets thrown around by throwers do with your soft luggage. One wheel the pin gets knocked loose so you have to tap it back in place. But besides that I would buy another one.

I'm In the Army and have used multiple versions of their boxes with no complaints. We recently purchased several boxes for carrying our weapons when we have to travel on civilian airlines and they are still great quality.

What I wish they made was wind instrument cases. It's funny that they're not in that business...their existing cases aren't even close to the right sizes for things like saxophones. I've got several of their cases and it's instructional how nice a plastic case can be if you spend a little money. I vastly prefer that over metal.

Now, if they just made KRA65 equivalent, that would be cool.

As a side question, does anyone have one of their toolboxes with drawers? Are the one inch drawers able to handle something like a Wiha screwdriver (which is a smidge over an inch on the handle)?

We have been using 1450 cases for tools and parts boxes on our race truck for many years. If they can survive the baja 1000 over and over, it is a product that is second to none.
I even made a first aid kit and stuck it in a 1400 case, works great. I will say that the 1450 is perfect for tools, when you step up to the 1500, it can get to heavy when full.

For those looking for pelican cases, this is where i have been buying them for years, there prices are really good.

I buy about 100 of them of different sizes a year. We also buy about 50 large Hardigg cases a year too. I was glad to hear that they were bought by Pelican.
Our last order of Pelicans was for about 25 a couple of months ago. I'd bet they were old stock though. I could see no difference.

Pelican acquired Hardigg a couple of years ago. I believe the roto-molded shipping cases and "Storm" cases are made a few miles down river from me at the Hardigg plant in South Dearfield MA.

That was the BEST warranty ever. I have a couple flashlights, and they came with that same warranty tag. Laughed every time, and now that i have kids... i get the joke even more. NEVER underestimate the destructive power of a 2 year old:lol_hitti
