I have never seen Kroil or Zep sold in this city . . . :headscrat Then again to be honest I haven't looked too hard when I am shopping normally have my head thinking about the next tool instead . . :bounce:

'PEN' by State Chemicals (Ohio based)

Trust me, if you've never heard of it, you WILL love it! Not only is it superb, but it smells of strawberries! It's the ONLY type of pen. oil that my shop uses and there's a reason why.

Kroil is hard to find here. You can order from the company KanoLabs website. or Amazon in the states. Theres a supplier for kroil in winnipeg called Borland distributors, that Piper told me about, but i havent ordered from them yet.

Zep45 is likely easier for you to get. Look in the yellow pages for "Zep". However our local one has a $300? minimum.here to They could tell you where to buy though.

If you have a local BDI Bearings, they can order out of the zep catalog with no minimum. They stock most items,

IIRC Zep45 for a very large spray can (like 750ml ) is only like $9

Im curious to see how much kroil is at Borland, please post up if you happen to get some there.

One supplier i saw (they were cdn reps for Eastwood) wanted like $30 a can + shipping lol. Theyre nuts. Its $16 from kroil themselves (16.5 oz can)

WOW! Soaking your BALLS in ACETONE. That truly IS manly!

OK, you manly guys, go soak your balls in Acetone and let me know if you can get your nuts off afterwards.

Standing by for a report...

Like I mentioned, it's against the rules now. But man, back in the day, soaking your balls in Acetone really helped you score!

Guess we're livin' in different times now... :lol_hitti

I have been very happy with 'Fluid Film.' For the rest of the Canadians on here you can get it at your local Canadian Tire store or Part Source (same company). It is apparently solvent free and thus can be used on or near rubber and wires without damage.
A mechanic friend sprays in on the top of Chevy truck gas tanks to loosen the ring to get at the pump. He thens sprays some on after putting it back together. Years later one of his trucks came back for another pump (150 000 km later) and the fluid film was still on the top of the tank all around the ring and it just spun right off. This stuff is amazing and when you spray it on a rusty part it starts to bubble up and sizzle.
This stuff is not cheap, around $14 for a can of it but I alwasy keep one around now. You can just go ahead and chuck out the WD-40. No real uses as far as I am concerned. Do not use WD-40 on car locks if you live in a cold area as that stuff freezes. I would guess there is water in it.

Well, I used the "mixture" again today.

Had to get header nuts off that were welded on with rust. My whole header was thick with rust too.

I sprayed the mix on the nuts (ha ha), left for 30 minutes, came back, and took all the nuts off with a 1/4" drive mini ratchet no problem. No heat required.

Then I noticed that the part of my header where the mixture sprayed onto was shiny and the rust was gone.

I love this stuff, I'll never pay for penetrating oil again.

I have a spray can I got from Harbor Freight, would work great for that mix. It's a white can, about 12-16oz and you pour a liquid in and charge it with 90-100psi of air and spray it.

I have one I use for spraying solvent.

Nate one of the best things that I bought from HF, funny but I never see that product anymore!

Thanks for the suggestions. I am trying to separate the two halves of a beautiful set of brass doorknobs. Penetrating oil nope. PB Blaster nope. Boiling in water no luck. Will report back on the mixture.
