Hard to beat PB Blaster - or, as it's known colloquially around here, "skunk piss". I've had decent luck with Liquid Wrench penetrating oil (the actual oil in the mini squeeze bottle) and good luck with Kroil for gun and knife related stuff.

Dealing with a lot of hot/cold cycling bolts in my job, just making a bolt really cold rarely causes it to break loose, if it's really stuck. It's typically a lot more common when dealing with different materials (like a magnesium plate with staked steel inserts, and high-strength alloy bolts), but a couple good hot/cold cycles is a lot more effective when dealing with similar metallurgy between the hardware and the bit the hardware is in, in my experience. Loctite stuff just looks gimmicky to me.

I use Aero-Kroil.

The worst case Scenario for me is heat and then apply wax. Old Machinists trick. Heat and Wax will break almost anything loose.

There have been many threads on this subject, I tried the 50/50 mix of ATF and Acetone that someone mentioned. It worked great, I have both the Kroil and the PB Blaster, nice having the spray can convince.

I have and use the CRC freeze off, which is the same I'm sure. It smells like Kroil. I find it works great on threaded items like bolts ete..., and not quite as good on non threaded items, IMO.
I picked up a bunch when Napa had it on sale for 3.50 a can (19oz, IIRC). According to my Napa rep one of the repair shops loves it.

I used it to free up a frozen vise grip screw that I tried everything else on, even the Kroil in the metal can wouldnt do it, this stuff got it loose no problem.

I prefer to have at least 3-4 kinds kind of penetrating oil availabe as one of them will not cover every single application.

Thats been my experiance, YMMV and all that.

I like a full shelf of goops, try one, try another, heat, try almost anything to avoid breaking bolts and the mess with removing them.

I've never tried this stuff, around since the 70's I think, sold only through dealers. Mopar Rust Penetrant, P/N 04318039AB

Pb seems to be the best stuff. Im worried that now that is available almost anywhere they will go the way of other great products and be cheapened in order to save a buck but for now it seems to work the best. wd-40 seems worthless to me and no clue about the loctite seems gimmicky though

Picked up a gallon of PB this weekend at the swap meet. It came with a good sized squeeze bottle. That should be a better investment than cans at $3 each.

As I've never personally smelled a skunk's wee-wee, I'll take your word for it. 'Sides, I thought that description was for bad beer???

Can you give any more details about the wax, like type of wax and method you use. I have never heard of that method.

A very old friend got me into Liquid Wrench and have been using it ever since. I have been playing around with Royal Purples Maxfilm and had good luck, The only problem is it is pricey and I have problems with the cans not spraying.

As for the Liquid Wrench, they have a non flammable spray that would work on the heated bolt Idea....

Look on line for bees wax; it usually sells for $1 a puck. Some health food stores have it.

Heat the part gently and melt the wax. don't make it so hot that it burns off. Steam engineers were doing this trick before the Civil War.

How does against Kroil/AeroKroil

Hallowed be Kroil's name!

I've never used anything that works as well as old Creepy Oil. I read a post somewhere this year, I think it was this year, that listed the results of a penetrant test that some bunch of old burnt out machinists did.

I think that Kroil came in second to some home brewed concoction based on acetone and Dextron or something similar. I don't think that the home brew beat it by very much. I would guess that it'd be a hell of a lot cheaper if you used large quantities on a regular basis.
