Pentalobe (5-Pointed Torx Plus) Fasteners - How Common?

Hello all,
Picked up a set of Pentalobe (5-Point Torx Plus) 1/4" hex insert security bits (hole in center) yesterday at a thrift store. Complete Taiwan set P10-P50, paid $3 for it. Probably a waste of money, but it's better to have a tool and not... well, you all know the rest.
Never seen an actual fastener for these - are they pretty rare? What are these typically used on?

Very rare. The only place I know of them being common is Apple computer case screws.

My iPhone has Pentalobular screws.

I would have paid $3 for the set.

The iPhone uses screws smaller than the ones in this set. It won't fit that.
My older Leatherman uses these though. I'd pay you $3 for them. ;) wink wink.

It wasn't too many years ago that the security version was extremely hard to obtain. Textron Camcar was trying hard to control the circulation of the security bits because it's not terribly secure when anybody can obtain the proper tool.

I'm a sucker for cheap thrift tools, even if I don't anticipate needing the tool anytime soon. My problem is that I buy a tool, remember I bought a tool, can't remember where I stored the tool when I finally do need it..........

The 5 lobe pattern is the security pattern for Torx plus.

Outside of iPhone I've seen then in injection pumps
