I thought I was a woodworker until I saw your skills.
Is this a hobby for you or a profession? If it's not your job, it should be.

Agree with the rest, nice work! I haven't been on this site for long but haven't seen a lot of furniture but can appreciate your craftsmanship.

My guess is your not putting hay in that pickup bed, nice work. I love old cars and would love to restore a woody. I am a 5th generation carpenter but am self taught furniture maker. I belong to a woodworking organization for inspirtation. Nine 4, thanks, the tool chest is inspired by an original from an English cabinetmaker. What I liked about it was from the outside it looked like any other beat up tool box but when it was opened it was WOW! I still have a good bit of veneer work to do on the inside, there are sliding compartments and hidden drawers in it as well. I used hide glue and hammer veneer the old fashioned way.

Firebird: amazing talent you have with wood. my bride wouldn't mind having any of those inside her house and seriously i wish i had the talent to make any of them.

any chance you can show us a few pictures of the tools you use and your shop? also how big is your shop/garage and can you also park a car inside when you don't have a project?

keep up the great work and any how to threads on the garage oriented projects would be great if you want to share your skills.

Next time you are building something, mind showing your work as you go? I was always interested in veneer and inlays but at best, I'm a shadetree carpenter...

I will def. show a work in progress. I have what would be a 4 car garage. 3 bays are for cars, actually 2 bays have a car 1 bay has motorcycles. What would be the 4th bay is partitioned off with only a 6' door from the inside. This area is my woodworking shop. Its pretty small and cramped but for building furniture the space works fine. I will get some pics uploaded to my photobucket so I can post a few more. These were all I had in there so far.

Re: Not really Period Furniture

This is a small side table I built for my youngest son about 12 years ago. He had recently gotten a Lava Lamp, and needed something to keep it off the floor (aka superior to the floor) and next to his bed. These pictures were taken a couple months ago, so you’re seeing 10+ years of use and multiple moves. This may very well be one of the quickest furniture projects I’ve ever done, as I seem to recall building it in less than a weekend. The only dimension that I built to was the height, everything else was dictated by the size of the board.

It is made from a single piece of poplar. The width of the piece dictated the size of the top, no glueups there. The legs are half-lapped. All the bevels were cut on the table saw, then cleaned up with a handplane. A quick stain (Minwax, some variety of mahogany IIRC), and then some clear finish. I don’t remember….

For some reason, this remains one of my most satisfying pieces. From conception to completion in two days, completely off the cuff, and perfectly suited for it’s intended use and user.

Followed a couple leads to get here.
Your furniture is amazing. It belongs in Fine woodworking.
I had to start a new magazine to showcase my work. It's called: Crappy woodworking.

In all seriousness, your works are a quality well above most.
Well done.
