Permatex 20353 Disc Brake Caliper Lube

Last night I tried it in a 36 tooth Snap-on ratchet.

We're talkin' smoooooooooooooooth!!

It's a silicone/moly base - so it's classified as a synthetic.

I was looking at this stuff for very high temp lube. Ceramic solids might outlast the condoms though.

Hmm...Now you've got me thinking. Maybe i'll just use the excess grease from (insert you favorite greasy fast food restaurant here) to lube my ratchets. It would be cheap.

Buy a diesel and run it on used fryer fat.

I despise black moly grease. Nasty filthy horrible evil sh*t. Thankfully i only really deal with it in CV joints.

Some of the lubes I've tried thin way down in the summertime. I've got a clear glass jar on the shelf filled up with white lithium grease and in the summertime, it separates like peanut butter does.

Preach on, brother! Moly *****! Good grease but such a pain to get off your hands, clothes......and it seems to multiply too. Wipe it off, it comes back.....wipe it off again, it comes back....again. It must be supernatural kinda like Christine

For now, I'm still using Lubraplate #104. I like it better than the Superlube Snappy sends in the new ratchets.

What is the consistancy of the Permatex #20353? Is it more like Anti-seize? I've considered using anti-seize before.........it's a high pressure lube just like a engine assembly grease........

After running this stuff for a couple of days, I can tell you guys that this stuff is POTENT!!

I've had to take some grease back out of both ratchets in order to regain some crispness - that's easily done by pulling the cover plate and wiping the grease off the cover and then reinstalling.

From my experience, all you need is a thin film on the floor of the ratchet body and surrounding walls - a thin layer on the bottom of the gear - and then pack it in between the gear teeth with your finger - that's it!! No grease is necessary on the pawl because it gets plenty transferred onto the pawl by the gear.

This stuff is unbelievable.

Hmmm...I dunno if I want to try this stuff.

The red Permatex bottle I have has lubed probably a hundred+ ratchets by now, and it still has enough for plenty more. The bleeding doesn't bother me, and if you use it sparingly it doesn't bleed that much.

But you already know this, Merk!

BTW, will you be contacting Williams' customer service dept. to discuss adding their black hard handles to their ratchets, as I suggested in another thread?

That's what my granddad used on his mowing machine. You just have to remember not to use any salt when you render the lard.

It doesn't work well. I had it in a regularly used Matco ratchet for almost a year. When I opened it, there was slight surface rust inside.

Valvoline Durablend grease is working the best for me right now. With a light coating, it works well even in cold temperatures.

Use plenty of it in Yamaha ATV auto drives and CVs. Use shellite for washing parts and cleanup...just dissolves it right off.
