Hi guys I recently had two ratchets fail after using the red lube of love. The first didn't break but did skip a tooth under about 70ft pounds. It was a snap on dual 80 with a fresh rebuild. The second was a HF 3/8 torque wrench at 70 lb. 70Lb seems low to make a snap on start skipping. Is the RLOL to blame? Is it just too slippery?

How much did you use? Could you maybe have put too much in when you lubed it?

I have said this before but, fine tooth ratchets 60 tooth and over like thinner lubes like 3 in one oil, air tool oil, or Breakfree CLP. That slippery goo is best for 30 to 36 tooth ratchets.

Glad I read this because I've had some 81950 in my Amazon cart for the past week awaiting my next order. I figured I'd keep using my Super Lube multi-purpose grease for coarse tooth ratchets and the 81950 for finer stuff. But if 81950 is also better for the coarse tooth ratchets, I might as well stick with the Super Lube I already have.

Out of curiosity, what do you guys think of air tool oil for the fine tooth stuff? That's what I already use for a light oil for many things.

I think its more a product of being too viscous to let the springs reset the dogs on the teeth . Dont think its too slippery

I used ultraslick by itself at first and did not like it as well as superlube by itself.

The RLL might be too thick for an 80 tooth. It might be preventing the pawl from meshing with the gear all the way. The RLL works fantastic on a MAC 30 tooth though.
