I am about to apply for my permit for the electrical run to me shop... anyone have an example of what I need in the drawings? Or a program that I can use to make it?

It will be about 50' from the meter/post, 2 1/2" conduit under ground, and a panel on the inside of the shop. I plan to wire a few outlets next to the panel plus a light to get it passed, then add more later.

I take my permits out online, just state on there what you are installing,
"Install 100 panel in barn, add driven grounds"
and how many inspections you will need, then pay for it $, if you are going in person to take this out, they will help you with the paperwork.

If you are tying into your existing service, I think you will be fine. If you were building a new building/house ect, you would need a load sheet for the power company.

The permit people can tell you what's needed. I thought I was going to have to explain exactly what I was getting a permit for, and I was ready to sketch it out, but "move basement subpanel and run new power to garage" was more than they needed. No proposal, no pre-approval, no rough inspection. They just come and inspect the finished version of whatever it is that I decide to do. The only details they wanted were so they could decide what to charge me.

Your jurisdiction may be different, but if you need details they'll probably be happy to describe what you need to do.

Is this for a building permit, or for the actual application to the power company for service? I haven't seen that requirement on a building permit but it's not uncommon on a service application. If that's what I think it is, they want a simple site plan showing the building site, the location of the building on it, where you want the meter installed, and a dashed line representing the secondary service wire from there to the power company transformer or utility pole.

Their online guide had drawing of panels, etc.

Applying for the permit they don't want any of that, they just want to know when to inspect.

Thanks guys!
