Home Depot just before Christmas had the Milwaukee black-handled tool box combos and promptly sold out of them except for a damaged one. The bottom box had been dropped and the back of it stove in pretty hard. It was a few days before any discount was applied and then only 25%. I stopped in and asked about it a couple of times. It was always the “wrong guy” on duty; “you need to see Chris” was repeated on the various days I asked.
Finally saw the mythical Chris but he was still no help, deferring to ‘what’s in the computer’. I offered 50% but couldn’t get the right authority to weigh in. As it was now a couple of *weeks* I went back in January and it’s still there, still 25%, but wait! There’s aNOTHER box now. One of the Husky Matt Black sets with identical damage. The Husky is MUCH larger and IMHO more desirable for my needs. Not marked down, only marked “damaged/to be marked down”. I renewed my questions, same people, same answers, IDK.
Left the store and had to go back on Saturday for other stuff; had to check on it again. The plus this time is it seems like *Everyboby* is working this day, must be meetings or somesuch. I ask some more, calls are made and eventually, success! The Store Manager was consulted and provided the override of the computer’s numbers. Word relayed back to Chris to tell me I can have Either set at 50%!
I don’t have room for both so the big Husky rode home with me.
