When blokes uses drill bits from the machine shop sets and replace them, chipped, broken or blunt.

p.s. I'll never knock someone for attempting to sharpen a bit and failing.

When someone asks to borrow a tool, "ya no prob", and then I go to open the same drawer and there's a big oily mitt print, or a blob of grease.

I lent a router with straight bit to co-worker. He returned it a few days later. I didn't bother checking it out (it was in a metal case). A few weeks later I opened the case to see what bits I had and noticed the bit in the router was blackened and had a nick in the carbide. I asked him about it and he said oh yeah I hit a nail. do you want a new bit? I told him to forget it. Now I don't lend out tools any more.

When Goons expect to borrow my tools and equipment for use in their Manifestation of Shadetreeism..... Having things returned damaged, parts missing, dirty, months or YEARS later if at all, or substituted with junk... There were times I had to drive over to retrieve them myself..... Nowdays; for this situation;; My PET word is NO, and is probably HATED by those Goons..... My new PET HATE is the internet pirates who are constantly trying to invade people's computers to "borrow" whatever they can.

At least they bring them back.

Our shop supposedly supplies taps, dies, and drill bits. The drawer for each of those are sparsely stocked, and only the odd or seldom used sizes are still present

I started buying new taps for myself through work (we get a decent price) and the parts manager asked my why work couldn't buy them, I said "Because this way they stay in MY box and they are MINE and only I will have them and use them and no one else will be able to use, loose, or break them.

Or worse still when you have a brand new ripper cutter and you borrow it to a "skilled" machinist and it comes back melted and blue:(

+1 on lending tools. There are only a few people I will lend a tool to or borrow a tool from. These people are also tool people who I know will treat the tool properly, and will return it promptly. I've lent tools out to friends years ago and had literally chase more than a few down to get my stuff back. Some of the stuff I never got back, and twice I got an argument that it was their tool. Never again!

It also bugs me when people think a concerted floor is an anvil and beat holes in it, or that the entire shop is a trash can and trash the place while they work on their stuff.

This. Our other machinist and myself are the only ones who can free hand sharpen drill bits. Try as we may to teach others, they refuse to learn.

Another good one is finding the grinding wheels grooved from some jackass grinding a radius on the corner of a piece of steel. Also love it when people try to grind aluminum or brass on the pedestal grinder, especially the carbide only green wheel.

Next door to us is a shop that specializes in engine rebuilding. They do not own a tq wrench!!! I got tired of loaning mine out. I found some nice beam type tq wrenches at a yard sale.
I gave them to the guys only to find them in the dumpster a few days later!!!!

People who are at your doorstep, chomping at the bit to borrow something, take forever to return it and when I go to hunt it up its been loaned to someone else.

Contractors who want to borrow your stuff for a job where they are making money and are insulted when you want a rental fee.

Do we even want to get into other Drivers? Here are my top two.

People who put on the breaks half way through a turn.

People you pull up behind on cruse control and speed up when you want to pass. Did they just wake up?

people who move anything of mine, then I have to look for it, because it is not where I left it

I keep a mental map of where everything is - if people wouldn't touch my stuff, I would never have to look for anything!

I worked in a big metal fab shop. On one project they put me with a guy that had been there alot longer than me. He ask to borrow my tape measure i figured his had broken that day and he would get one right away. We worked together for 2 weeks and he never did get a tape. He was good about returning it.

I lend tools only to a few trusted people, those who I dont trust I tell them to gimme the cost of the tool. You dont bring it back and now I can buy it with your cash.

Jeez
I have like 6 tapes, all high dollar ones
reason in construction you ain't **** w/o one

I also never really wear on out, when it's had a good run I stop using it
good as a spare when yours or someone else's breaks
or I give it to the labor who is interested in learning
Even though they are picking up trash, I still see him wearing his $30 tape;)

That is scary. Rebuilding an engine without a torque wrench,

I generally dislike people. If people are coupled with technology it only gets worse. I guess the biggest one is people who hurt animals. I REALLY hate them......REALLY.

Not what you are talking about. Humm......well, how about cheap import nuts and bolts that are supposed to be one size but aren't. Hate that. Even more when they are different sizes on every pair of flats.

Mine is putting a borrowed tool back in the wrong drawer. I'm all for co-op tools, when it comes to specialty stuff. And there's always the different socket lengths, like a snappy vs craftsman type situation.

And, my rule was always if I borrow a tool 3 times I need my own.

not really garage related but my pet hate is.....

GLITTER!!!

And the person who invented glitter and the person who decided that all little girls and womens clothes needed glitter all over them. Just pulled a load of clothes out of the dryer and glitter is everywhere! Its usually not that bad, just ends up on the couch or whatever, this time glitter is literally falling out of the machine. Turns out my fiance's mini me has a sweater with a large glitter happy face on it. Like literally a whole container of glitter dumped on this sweater ARRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!! It might end up lost...

Mine is people that use the word issue .. you are NOT cool:shoot5:
and sound gay.
mine is people who use 'gay' as a generic insult.

And the person who invented glitter and the person who decided that all little girls and womens clothes needed glitter all over them.

the worst is when the women aren't wearing clothes and it still gets all over you. you never get it all off and it's like screaming 'hey wife look at me'

... I've heard this from a friend. yeah.
