As this story goes I went this week to a garage sale and I picked up a few items and when I went to pay for them the man was very upset and he wanted more money from me. I explained the price was marked $2.00 dollars but he got very upset and said it came with a box of blades all for $5.00 dollars. I knew he was so wrong but rather then get upset I gave him my last $3.00 dollars.
How did I know he was wrong (although I can see his mistake), it was like looking at a Ford car with Chevy parts, oh sure it would work but it just did not belong together if you know what I mean. One last thing this story is for GJ member Four Cycle this Budweiser is for you, one more American Company to add to your growing list!
Peter E. Johanson was born in 1871, (not sure what country) and he died in 1953 and he is buried in Warren County, Pennsylvania; he was either aged 81-82 at his time of death. At this time this is all the information I could find and Bill if you are reading this maybe he had a wife and children but this is all the information I have for now.
His Patent number 1,080,560 is for a tool shank that is held in by friction fit, (a very cool idea and I can see why the man thought all the blades went with this tool). This was a tool for screwdriver blades. I think maybe the company might have also sold other types of woodworking blades for it but not sure enough at this point in time?
I have the location of the Hultberg Johanson Tool Co.(after the first World War), at 1408 Penna Ave. in Warren Pa., then just a short time later I found in 1917 a new location and a name change to The Hultberg Johanson Tool Co. Inc. at 212 Prendergast Ave. Jamestown, N.Y. (June of 1917).
I also found around Feb 19th, 1920 a Mr. John E. Hultberg was president of that Company. (A new American company name).
Lots of pictures, an old chisel blade that came with the tool marked Great Neck,a patent link, and other tool information for you today on this bright Sunday morning.
