I was going to get a air line crimper but with all the sizes, it gets too pricey. I use the smallest worm drive and wrap the clamp in electrical tape to clean it up. Any kind of ears could cut
I fixed a leak at my water heater today. I thought I had everything on hand to sweat the copper but I was one fitting short. Went to the hardware store and came back with 2 sharkbites and a 5ft piece of pex. Took the rest of the afternoon off.
So, guys, I get that the "SharkBite" fitting are okay to use, if they can be afforded, right?
It sounds like keeping one or two might be okay for the late night emergency, but not for normal use.
Last Saturday, I swung by my local HD and L's ( they are less than a mile apart ) and looked over the Sharkbite. HD had a couple set up and lI was able to try them, pretty nice.
Neither store had the crimp on rings, nor the tools, for PEX, where else should I look?
on my last house I red did the whole house using uponder/pro pex. you have a expander tool then you slip it over the fitting and it shrinks back down. I was lucky enough to know a former plumber to loan me the tools. fittings run about 10 bucks a piece for brass.
here is where I purchased my fittings. my buddy said it was cheaper than he could get them with discount, http://www.pexsupply.com/?cmpid=ppc;gpex&gclid=CIK3lPuH7rwCFUVgMgodt1IACg
