Well tonight was wasted. Started to backfill and had foam screwed to wood. Well it pushed away and then left an air gap between foam and wood. Guess I will have to use strips of eight foot wood and anchor it to the splashboard

That's what I did. Started puting the dirt back on the inside and it pushed to hard again bottom and bowed top out

15 psi for vertical since its 4 bucks a sheet cheaper. Same r value.

If I insulate the ground, do I need yo insulted the inside of the wood post also. Will be foamboatd between cement and dirt but wondered about the inside of the post.

I didn't insulate around those posts. Wouldn't have hurt but by the time I did the 2" layer against that mud girt, I thought the benefit would be outweighed by the effort and also the risk of those pieces of foam falling off during the pour.

Also, the foam you put on the face of that post will be way out in the finished floor vs. the mudgirt foam which will be under the wall.

I'm sure that heat will be lost to that pole without foam, but how much? and is it worth the fight?

Curiosity has got the better of me.. Dave, what is the strapping around the post for?

I did a similar thing with rebar bent into a 90 degree bend stuck into the concrete post backfill and then layed into the slab. In my case it helped with lateral strength as well as distributed some of the vertical post load into the slab.

I can't see how those two nails will give you much though.

Peoria county code requires the building be attached to the slab now. Eliminates the floating and heave issues to an extent. Each post has two. They are 2 inches below top of floor.
