Pex pinch tool calibration problem.. does this crimp look ok?

Ok so I got a new pex pinch crimper, tested the calibration with the bar and the go no go gauge, and down to the tightest setting the gauge shows it's still too big of a gap. I didn't have any pex pipe or fittings on hand, just a ring, so I pinched it closed. I'm sure I'm over thinking it... my dumb self didn't read that the took was pre calibrated (which was actually at a looser setting than when I started).. but does this crimp look ok? I know it's not on a pipe but it looks pretty much equal to a crimp that's been on a pipe in my house for 2 years now with no issues

The go-no go gauge are used on the copper rings, not the stainless rings. The crimp on the stainless ring in the picture looks okay.

The go/no go gauge is used for the solid rings with the crimp tool. There's a few types but I've got the longer handled tool that does 3/4 and 1/2 and I also have a smaller one that you use a pair of vice grips for, this one is a little better for getting into tight spaces.
The stainless ring you have, you just use the pliers for pex rings and squeeze till the 2 sides touch.

Sure. Ok, here's the story on the Oetiker calibration gauge. It's only needed on ratcheting tools to setup the tool once by adjusting the jaw spacing. It is not a go/no-go gauge for the cinch itself. With a ratcheting Oetiker tool, the gauge allows the jaws to close just the right amount that they'll pinch the ear to the minimum without cutting off the ear, which would happen if the jaws closed to the point of touching. So, it is just to leave space for the two strips of metal between the jaws.

Also, looking at the results on a clamp without a fitting or pipe is a useless test, as there is no pressure against the ring's inside.

Those clamps aren’t calibrated. If you look close there’s a little tab that catches a hole in the outer ring. Whether you clamp it harder or not that tab is still holding it tight. Clamping it harder with compress more and it will spring back til the pressure is on the tab
