Pex question.

I have a 40'x56'x12' pole barn. I'm getting ready to put cement in and want to put pex for future heat solution.

I have a two small rooms that I want on a seperate zone. I could use a rough estimate of pex and pieces to get.

TO EARLY FOR A LOAD CALC!!! Please dont ask.
Pex will be on 12" centers.

If you're laying out 12" on center, that works out to 1 foot of tune to every square foot of area. Add some leeway for runs back to the manifold.
When I ordered from the BlueridgeCompany they suggested a simply calc of square footage x 1.1, so in your case 40 x 56 x 1.1 = 2464ft. If you have extra long lengths back to your manifolds you'll have to add a bit for that also.


Figuring for max loop tubing length of 300 ft you'll need at least 8 loops, and probably separate manifolds and pumps for your separate zones.

Ya I figured about 2500' of pex, but should I have two seperate manifolds? One for each zone.

tdkart gave good advice. You will want seperate manifolds for each zone which you wish to control separately. A single zone with a single loop of pex is a very simple manifold though. The small rooms will heat faster than the large shop so you would want those on one or two zones plus the big shop zone. The big shop zone will have lots of loops so a large manifold.
