Pex tubing in concrete

It is advised by places like Radiantec that a "well" be placed into the concrete pour to distribute the Pex tubing. I personally don't like the idea, as this seems like a location for the conrete to crack. Anyone just have their tubing run into the slabs (and probably 90 deg. out from there)? Any pics? Thanks.
