phase converter wiring help

Well I cant put it off any longer, It's time to wire the phase converter. I was trying to wait for help, but that is going to take WAY to long. I got the converter in the mail a few days ago, I picked up the recommended wire and breaker from the ele. supply, I got the breaker installed and the single phase run. now I need some help. If you look at the attachment, it shows L2 feeding straight thru (terminating at C with the other lead feeding the motor)
then L1 feeds to A powering the converter, then going to the motor. Term B goes to the motor (the third phase I'm guessing??) Anyway the point of my question. What terminal on the breaker is L1 and L2? What color goes to L1 and L2? Also I see no ground wiring in the diagram, or neutrals. I have 4 wires going into the motor from the wiring that came with my mill. Keith

Doesn't matter - it's single phase. If it's not marked, don't worry about it.

that was my thoughts I have the lap top in the shop with me today, I called the converter company WWW.WNYSUPPLY.COM they were very helpful. I opened the wiring to the motor, turns out it was wired for 440V so I have that all switched over to 220V Routing the wires in the converter now. Then I just need to get ready to power up the circuit. That may take awhile LOL

Well I got it wired, I powered the breaker, no smoke, thats a good sign. So i throw the motor poer on, nothing but a hum, I guess its trying to turn but no luck. If I spin it by hand you can see it turning a bit faster than I can turn it by hand, I guess I'm calling wny supply again. Wish me luck

Are you sure you properly reconfigured the motor for low voltage?

It's easy to mix up T6 and T9.

If you have a good OHM meter check the resistance between each set of wires coming from the motor. Check
L1 to L2 =
L1 to L3 =
L2 to L3 =

They shoulds all be the same within 10% or so. If wired wrong then the resistance will be out of wack. Not the final answer but one quick check. Another thing to look out for is if the mill has any 120v controls or lights that may require a neutral. If you have control relays you should make sure that they are powered from the L1 & L2 legs and not the generated leg.

On Edit; When trying to start does the red lite on the panel come on and off like it says in the instructions? How this thing works is that when you apply power the relay energizes for a time sending phaseshifted power to the L3 leg and then after the motor spins up the relay drops out allowing the motor to run on two of the three phases. I would think that no red light indicates the relay is not activating to start the motor. In addition do you have the power switch before the converter or after the converter, ie the mill on/off switch. I don't use that kind of a converter so I don't know if the relay is a potential relay or a timer.

Pretty sure I got the low voltage (240v) correct. I know what you mean about 6-9. However they are spelled out on this motor. I will watch for the red light as soon as I get back to the shop. I'm down at the local hot dog shop having lunch and posting from my phone. Keith

The switch for the mill is after the converter. I looked and sure enough no light. I'll be testing the ohm's. Wny called me back with a better explanation of how the circuit works. I'm sure I'll be able to get it up and running today

Larry G L1 - L2 is 3.1 Ohm
L1 -L3 is 3.2 Ohm
L2 -L3 is 3.2 Ohm

Pin outs at the motor, after the switch
L1 L2 forward 230v
reverse 230v
L1 L3 forward 115v
reverse 115v
L2 L3 forward 115v
reverse 115v

Now I'm going looking for an open contacter in the forward reverse switch. Its a big old Dayton. Keith

Found it!!! Loose wire on the C terminal. Completely my fault. Keith
