Phase Converter

I have a rotore converter that i use it is 15hp. I dont need that big of one but when i got the motor it was cheap and i dont use it much. A buddy got a cardbord beller it is 15hp he wanted to see if it worked. I wired it up and it worked but i didnt check to see if it was wired for 220 or 440. He is going to run it off of bobcat. If it was wired for 440 would it have run on converter?

If it was wired for the high voltage, I don't think the converter would have started the motor.

Today we tried To run a 8hp wired for high voltage and it wouldnt start.

I took my converter to a place that wanted to try it on a machine that has 3 motors on it. It has a 1hp. 5hp and 7hp? . It started and ran 1 and 5 but it wouldnt start 7. We thougt motor was bad their was a electician thier he tested it and thougt it was bad.But that night they hauled machine to a place that had 3phase and it worked.
