Phillips lamps burning out quickly

Background: I installed 6 lithonia lighting TC-232-120-GESB Fixtures in my garage in October 2015. Based on reading some threads here I went with Phillips brand lamps and I chose the T8, 32watt, alto 5000K natural lights.

My issue: The lamps are burning out very quickly. First set installed in October and there were 13 of the 24 out by January. Replaced those after reimbursement from phillips in March and as of today 3 more gone.

Phillips had no issue sending money when I reported the first few so I'm wondering if the lamps themselves are an issue or is it possibly the combo of the lamps and type of ballast that come the fixtures I purchased. I live in northwest Florida panhandle so it doesn't get cold enough for that to affect anything.

What do you guys think? I'm thinking of installing sylvania lamps because I can't afford to replace $115 worth of lamps every few months.

Hi. Just up the road from milton florida.

I'd venture a guess. Bad batch ?

I've got lithonia lighting in a building. I've got probably 25 or more fixtures and in 8 years replaced two ballasts and four bulbs. Not sure of bulb maker.

You might consider inviting Phillips to your facility to investigate the situation, I am confident they will be interested in determining the root cause of your dissatisfaction with thier product.

I've had similar luck with those bulbs as they sell them at lowes. I've bought a box of 10 and had only 4 work. I've replaced them about every 3 to 6 months at times due to bulbs burning out or the overall light output dropping off a noticable amount. I've given up on them and plan to replace mine with LED fixtures soon. Have the new fixtures just waiting.

I'd guess bad batch also ! I would check line voltage and make sure all are grounded.
Also I was told by Graybar Electric to let the lamps burn as long as possible on the first start up. They told me the lamps will last longer.

Something else is wrong. Can you get a closeup of the wires going to the sockets and one of the ballast itself?
It's not uncommon for fixtures to be mis-wired or to have the wrong components.
Let me ask you this...have any of the lamps that you have replaced failed prematurely?

Dealing with the manufacturer for this might be a little difficult, because the quantity is so small. Philips, like the others, has arrangements with their suppliers for just this kind of thing, to make it easier. If you have lamps that have failed prematurely, simply return them to the supplier and he should give you new ones. You might have to be a little insistent, but that's the way it's supposed to work. And if you bought them at Home Depot (Lowe's doesnt carry Philips fluorescents), just return them there.
If you bought them from a no-name internet supplier, then...well....good luck with that.

Fixtures are not wired wrong and the voltage is good as well. It ***** because they're supposed to be quality lamps and they certainly demand a premium to purchase them.

It appears that phillips has an issue that they should address. Hoping to receive more feed back because I'm pointing them to this thread when I contact them again, hopefully hey care enough to come in and see what consumers have to say.

It may be related to how often the lights are turned on and off. I have 4 fixtures that are cycled dozens of times a day and the bulbs last about 4 or 5 months. I also have one fixture that is on 24/7 and the same bulbs have been in it for about 6 years since I installed it. Same Sylvania bulbs in all of them.
