 Fairly certain the seller is a member here.

I'd totally buy that, but it is not a matching set. Different logo era boxes, deal breaker for me. :spit:

Holy ****! :yikes:

I have the identical lower unit (also got mine free!), may have posted pics before. Been looking to complete the set, but man ... out of my range, even if it was the matching logo for the top box. At least I know I can retire early if I decide to sell my bottom box. :eyecrazy:

That is really neat. I've never seen one that old but the price definitely seems WAY out of line.

I knew a guy that used to sell a lot of old cars. When he would first list one he would put the price really high just to see if he got any 'bites'. He called it "fishing." After a few weeks the price would begin to come down to a more realistic number. Maybe the seller is just testing the waters. The price can always go down but can't go back up once you're in negotiations.

I guess if you were chugging the vintage craftsman kool aid that would be a good deal, but as a normal person I find it to be too much money.

If I really want it, I'd be willing to spend a $100. They are not that uncommon. It may talke a year to find another one, but they are out there. No reason to even consider that nutmeat's price.

+1 Seems to happen alot in AZ. :lol_hitti

They slap on the words, Vintage or Industrial and the sky's the limit.

+2

But it's cyclical. Seems like prices rise in the fall when they think the snowbirds are back and ripe for the picking, then prices drop in the summer when they're gone. This one probably thinks there's one last chance to gouge a snowbird before the triple-digit temps drive them out. :willy_nil

The whole thing is overpriced by about 3X. The top chest is a nice unit and not something you see every day, but the bottom cabinet is just average and not particularly rare.

Yep, I have that bottom box as my welding bench. Got it free...

I also have the Oval tag version of the top and paid $50 for it, in better shape except for missing the latch.

I'm sure everyone is shocked to hear that these boxes are still up for sale and nobody bit at the shockingly low price of 10x what it was actually worth. :lol_hitti

People that list this stuff, get no nibbles, and refresh the ad over and over without even touching their ridiculous price, I sometimes wonder about their sanity. There's a guy in Prescott, listed a vintage Craftsman drill press at $600 and insisted "obo but no low balling". This on what was, tops, a $150 drill press. After over a month, he dropped it to "only" $500.

Some folks are beyond help. :dunno:
