Sharing this from a friend on Britbike.com if it hasnt been shared here already

Hi all, just read this on another forum and wanted to share it here as pictures are so important to sharing info about our hobby. I just copied the post so here it is and it seems to work with firefox for me.
Fix for seeing Photobucket pics

If you're using Google Chrome, go to the three dots on the right side of the screen and click them. A drop down should appear. Hover your mouse over "More Tools," and when the next drop down appears, click on extensions. Go to the link towards the bottom that says "Get more extensions." In the search box, type "Photobucket Fix," and hit enter. Click the install button and once it's done, you should be able to see photobucket pictures again.

For FireFox users, click on the three bars on the right side of the screen, then click on add ons. Click search for "photobucket hotlink" and click install. Same result.

Firefox is the same! 3 lines in the upper right, click on Add-ons and search Photobucket fix.
This allows you to see Photobucket items.

I've put a link to the fix in my signature line so hopefully people who want to see my pics can use the fix and see them.

Not working here, Chrome v 61.0.3163.100 with the extension you have linked. Not working in either regular or incognito mode. I'll try some others and see.

EDIT - "photobucket hotlink fix" did work in regular mode, not "photobucket embed fix". Neither work in incognito mode

This is awesome... I wonder how long it will take kidnappers at Photobucket to put an end to it?

You have to tell the extensions that they are allowed to run in incognito. Not sure if that's your issue but worth checking if you haven't yet.

I did as you said for Chrome and it gave me a choice of several apps to install. Which one did you use?

I hope I am wrong...but it appears that PB may have closed this loophole.

As of last night, using Chrome, the pictures have again been replaced with that gawdawful ransom image.

Bastards.

If this is the case, PB is dead set on putting the last nail in their coffin eh?

I just installed the extension and tried it on an old thread about HF 5-drawer cart. Seems to be working so far.

Thank you

In an inexplicable turn of events...working again! :willy_nil

I hereby take back the 'Bastards' remark.

Nahhh, they still really are bastards.

I'm in process of rightclick/save/attaching photos of my Garage Refurb thread so it doesn't die a slow death. At page 34 and 440 plus pics done so far, I hope this link works and stays working for people everywhere.

Thank you for posting this! Works for me. I often use Google to find threads on garagejournal and it was always frustrating to not be able to see the photobucket pics.
Thanks again.

I’m using an IPad and have the exact same problem... about ready to remove garagejournal.com from the computer, because I can’t see the photos.
I’ve gone thru the CP looking for a fix, and have found nothing... any help would be appreciated.

It has nothing to do with garage Journal, and there is no fix in the CP for it. You must use certain web browsers and install helper programs to make it work. Read the thread, it details how to do this. Just don’t try and pin it on GJ when it was photobucket that broke the links on purpose trying to ransom money out of people.

READ the first post.

If I sound snarky...tough! Far too many people don't actually read the thread before posting. I can see that if there is 100's of posts, but at least read the first one.

Photobucket threatened to close my account at the end of this month if I don't pay them $399 immediately. Fat chance. They can have ten years worth of photos because I have them backed up. The fix might not work for the hundreds of photos I have posted on GJ if they close my account. :dunno:

I got an email from photobucket that they had new management that had come to their senses, and were asking a far far smaller amount for yearly accounts of $20. And that all photos were restored. Crappy tactics and i'm not going back, but it's out there. I ended up deleting all mine and moving elsewhere.
