Hello from Belleview, Florida. I'm a professional photographer and have lived in this area for about eight years. I was born and raised in Miami and lived there for most of my life with the exception of a few years as an Army helicopter pilot and then as a bartender in Tennessee. I worked for AT&T as an installer from 1997 to 2010, and since then I have dedicated myself to my original love of photography.
I would say I've restored a few old tools, but to me that implies that they were brought back to original condition. Instead, I simply take 'em apart, clean them up, replace or fix what's broken, and put them back together in a useable form. I've never sold anything I've worked on, preferring to use them for my next idea (that's why I bought them, after all).
After having a look around here, I've already learned a few tips that would have been helpful when I was working on a recent project: a 1950s Craftsman drill press. Before that was a Morgan 130 vise that is now the pride and joy of my work bench. I just acquired a ca. 1970s Craftsman table saw from my father and spent a day tuning the various mounts and adjustments. (I can't believe he ran it with the blade pulley so loose on the shaft.)
I'll share what I've done on a new thread. Just wanted to say hello!
