Photos of old metal sk boxes

Does anyone have any pictures of the old SK metal boxes? I did a search and it appears that there were some threads, but they are old and most of the images are no longer associated with the thread. Thanks in advance!

Ive been collecting S-K stuff for a while now and have some pretty obscure stuff....but I have NEVER seen a box like this (not mine):

Just picked this up last week for $35! Hadn't taken time to post it, so this thread is cool.

All I've done so far is wipe it down/dust it out. It's pretty sweet - the front plate is removable, and stows into the bottom.

It's got two drawers, plus the removable tray on the top.

Here is my brother's really cool circa 1940s S-K machinist's chest:



We determined that is was originally the S-K classic green, and someone had done a pretty good job of repainting it.

I have the same one as KYTHRI...mine's in better shape, but I also paid more for it...almost double, in fact...I think that deserves a "you ****" to KYTHRI...

That's pretty close to the S-K chest I have....the latch is a bit different. Mine is missing the door/cover.

Here are a few of the SK boxes. Saw the post and went and took a picture. Both are full of tools pertaining to the era. Right now I am looking for a bottom box that would fit the SK Tools. I would like it for a user box. I saw a Sears Craftsman in one of the shops I visit. Would like to get it prep it and have a body shop paint it the original hammered green. I think the SK's are 22" and the bottom boxes near that are 26". There are some older and smaller ones around. The guy at the shop thought I was crazy when I offered him a better box for the little one. "You want THIS box?" We'll see...

Here are a couple of my old S-K toolboxes... for your viewing pleasure. The hip-roof box is on my to-do list for cleanup and restoration, once I found that "roundtoit".
The S-K two-drawer chest contains some of my vintage Electrolite and S-K tool collection.

Are we talking the small socket set boxes, tote boxes, chests, or any of them? I've found a few of the socket set boxes lately; really liking 'em.

Doesn't look factory or SK to me despite the badge inside. I grabbed the pictures before the listing ends and they ****. Listing says the box is about an 8" cube.

Got this one off FB marketplace for $20. The town over from me has a fairly busy contract manufacturer for Caterpillar equipment that started up in the 30s or 40s, so occasionally you can score some good stuff by watching estate and farm sale bills at gas stations and elevators etc.

The box shown above was completely overflowing , I have a lot of Williams sockets , just miscellaneous stuff pliers, cutters screwdrivers all kinds of old tools that I don't really need , I'm listing some of them on eBay. If they don't sell I'll probably just throw the thing in a box and put it on marketplace LOL

Degreased and scrubbed it by hand first, then rinse clean, WD40 and 0000 steel wool to get rid of surface rust, cleaning with an automotive detailed spray, then paste wax to seal the bare metal and add a nice luster.

When I put up my Grandparents home (year 2000) for sale I found 2 identical SK Wayne boxes. They were tucked on the main support beam between a couple of joists. I saved the one in the pics the other I put to work. That other one is in decent shape as it sits in a drawer in my tool box.
Maybe someone can tell me how old they are.
I’m guessing no newer than 1973-74 as the local hardware was closing and figured my GF bought them at the sell out sale. I could be wrong and he may have bought them even earlier.

Nice looking boxes. The SK box I bought looks like ****, used near or kept on a boat, rusty as could be, but the 90% of stuff inside was in great shape.

Some of mine that might be of interest:
















SK Wayne universal joint sockets in an SK box.
A 1/2" drive, six point Dresser era in near mint condition.
A 1/4" drive SK Wayne set (still missing one deep socket I think).
A rough old SK carry box that was a gift from a fellow Garage Journal user. I use it as my road box. Mostly vintage domestic tools in it.


I drool over some of the boxes posted in here. Mine are quite modest in comparison but I am grateful for them.
