I will be buying some new Precision Instruments tq wrenches, mainly for engine assembly. Haven't decided on a micrometer or split-beam. I do like how the split beams don't have to be set to the lowest setting after use, but I have mainly only used the micrometer style in the past. How "crisp" is the click on the split beams? Any suggestions are welcome.

The click is just as good as any micrometer I've used. Go for the split beam!

I wish I had went with split beam torque wrenches over micrometer. So much easier to adjust. I have never use the smaller ones.

I have a 1/4-drive PI micrometer torque wrench. I like the feel of the detents as I'm turning the barrel. Reminds me of a ratcheting machinist micrometer. When I get the 3/8-drive, I'm getting the micrometer type.

In my experience, the split-beam type tend to have an even sharper 'click' than the micrometer type. I greatly prefer split-beam.
