We're just about done with our garage project, and are thrilled with way it's turning out...

However, we just poured the section that is insulated in the photo and, in trying to match the existing driveway, picked a color that is too purple. I think we're going with what we believe is the correct color for the front of the driveway (the dirt area in the front of the photo), but we're trying to figure out if there's some way to stain the newly poured stuff so that it's a little less purple and a little more sandy yellow.

Ideas?

Thanks!!

Mark

never having done this at all, so take this fwiw, but I wonder if you could either get some of the concrete that is left over from the pour. Maybe there is some lying around etc, anyway I'd get "your best guess stain colour" and then try it on the concrete. Using an inconspicuous place on the driveway or some left over chunks may get you close. My wife is a graphic artist and she's always trying to match stuff. Granted it's paper, wood, cardboard etc but she just starts with what she has and blends until the right mixture is obtained. Keep notes on what looks right so you can make a larger amount of it. I suppose the other thing is you could talk to the concrete company and see if they have any suggestions.

Good luck

If the concrete is already poured, you have one option that comes to mind: Have a cement overlay done on the whole thing. You could get an idea at elitecrete.com

Just wait ?? I poured 10 yds of colored sidewalks this past summer.( light brown,a dirt shade), the color faded and changed to a much lighter color after fully curing 3-5 months. Then I would re asset if any adjustment needs to be made?? Watch out that you do not make things worst by jumping the gun or going too far to overcompensate... $.02...H

Also , sealers can make a large difference in appearance ??
