Picked up a new to me Blue Point bench grinder BG250, fires up and runs perfectly smooth. Plan on using this guy as a buffer once restored. Needs a good cleaning, maybe some paint, new buffing pads and cord. Gotta say I have never seen grinding wheels completely used up like the one side, pretty wild. Overall very happy for $40

Will update with some pics along the journey.

That’s great, that’s my first “you ****”, makes me kinda proud.

I picked it up at an auction, I was concerned being that wheel was worn down I was thinking it must have some hard miles on it. Completely surprised at how smooth it runs.

I will have to look into the 3M wheels, I could use a cleaning wheel that’s not on my big Dayton, that thing is kinda scary.

They aren’t cheep but they do a great job and don’t wear down very fast at all. They don’t throw wires like a wire wheel and as another plus, if you accidentally slightly brush against a running wheel with your bare finger, it doesn’t take off flesh. I like the red but you can get coarser and finer “grits”.

$40 is a great deal for that.
I painted mine Rustoleum Smoke Gray. I have 3M bristle brushes mounted on it so like you, I don't use it as a grinder but rather a Buffer.

Do you have another 3M wheel on it as well? I have one red. Been thinking of getting a blue one (finer) too.

I don’t have a pic handy but yes, there is another wheel on the left side that is coarser and narrower and of a different design. I highly recommend the style you see I have mounted on the right. I believe that there is a white one that is such a fine grade that you get an almost mirror finish on steel.

I am usually pretty good at the google but these were elusive. Y’all weren’t wrong, they definitely don’t give those away.

Nice grinder, later model kingston connely. The 3m brushes work great for polishing smooth surfaces. zoro sometimes has good prices with coupon.

New grommets for the feet, new cord, fresh paint now I just need the spindle adapters and some buffing wheels. Not a huge fan of the adapters held on with a grub screw but that’s what I’ve found the most of.

IMG_7256.jpegIMG_7254.jpegIMG_7257.jpegIMG_7255.jpeg From grinder to buffer/polish. I gotta say those cheap wheels from Amazon really fling some cotton! Pretty happy with it, runs great and makes shiny stuff quick.
