Picked up a Prentiss No. 52 vise

I found this Prentiss No. 52 stationary vise on Craigslist for 40 bucks. A quick wire brush cleaning, painting and greasing later, I have a nice 4 inch jaw vise.

I attached a picture of it along side its little brother, the 51 - 91 swivel base 3.5 inch vise.

Not bad for a quick Saturday afternoon find.

Really nice. I wondered why you mounted the base on the "51- 91"a bit "sideways"? I haven't bolted down my No. 19 yet.

The base placement is that way only because of the bracing under the workbench. If I did this any other way, it would hit the cross members.
