It was always recommended to be to remove the drawers, clean out the old grease in the rollers and relube them while it was empty. Hard to get motivated to so it when they are full. The do need the occasional lubrication. But nobody usually does.

I had to take the drawers and carriages out to get it out of the back of my truck by myself. Thankfully the guy I bought it from was able to help me load it. I was thinking just before I got there what if he can't help for some reason. It had been sitting for while. The old grease is kind of dried up. I am going to clean it up and relube it before putting anything in it. I put it right next to my Lista for now that came from the Sikorsky helicopter plant in CT. That is a heavy box. It only 44" wide but what a time I had getting it loaded and loaded.

Great deal. Check out the bearings and the slides, clean and lube bearing if needed. I have increased the smoothness on the slides just by wire brushing and spraying with dry lube.
Really? I paid about that for 2 of them several years ago. I have a 3x8ft plate of 3/4" steel on top and that's my bench

Maybe they sell cheap up in Alaska as there's not as much of a market for them.
Down here in the Continental US, they hold their value quite well. That's why people are telling the OP he ***** and comments about stealing them.
New is way more than $100 drawer. New, is probably closer to $175/ drawer or more.

I've never priced them new. Vidmar and Lista was all we had in the Air Force.
IMO they are WAY tougher (and heavier) than toolboxes.

Prices jump around some, but pretty common average on new is $250 to $400 drawer, depending on what specific model you get.

Congrats OP! I have 4 Vidmars and I wouldn't trade them for anything else on the market.
Mine required a bit of heating and beating and a paint job resulted in nearly everything in my garage turned reddish pink.
Learned the hard way that overspray sticks to everything!

Removed several layers of paint and repainted gray.
Still going strong.

I have two older vidmars in my garage. We also have a mess of them at work. Early on in my career I figured out the grease in them drys out and the drawers stick. When work was slow I went through and related most of the vidmars in the shop. I also lubed my two. Makes a world of difference, 30 year old cabinets are like new again.

I’ve used brake clean, 50/50 aceton/ ****** fluid mix. You’ll really have to flood the bearing with whatever your using to get all the dried gunk out, usually takes a few times. When a use the 50/50, I’ll hit it with brake clean just so no residue left before greasing.
I checked with the manufacture and basically said use a oil, and the guy on this forums who sells says the same.I’ve been using a 0 weight Superlube grease, it’s pretty thin and it’s a syntheti, which they claim won’t dry out.
On my first cab, I used regular grease and it’s a little on the stiff side, I’ll need to redo someday.
I also found that cleaning the rails that the bearing ride on go a long ways to smooth operation. I wire brush the areas of bearing travel and coat with a dry lube so it don’t rust or attract dirt.
When I grease the bearings, I have a needle attachment for my grease gun and i slightly flattened the end to fit into the bearing a little, pump a shot 3-4 times around bearing and the rotate to make sure there’s enough.
These cabs when cleaned and lubed up are Cadillacs!
You did great on those! I just bought two and paid the same, but they are not as nice. I’m using one to store my small pieces of steel and aluminum.

That's a nice cabinet. I never seen a wide Lista with so many drawers.

Make sure you have heavy stuff in bottom draws, if the thing falls over on you there will be resurrection.

Heavy stuff can be in the uppers, each drawer is rated for 400 lbs and cab is fine, it’s just when multiple drawers open at the same time. I’ve managed not to do that, but I know a few who have
