Picked up a vise - don't know much about them

So my neighborhood had a yard sale yesterday and I picked up a vise from someone.
It says "American Red Seal Guaranteed" No53N on the side. Paid $20 for it. How did I do?

Air hose it off and oil it up. Looking forward to seeing it spiffied up

JPC: sorry i can't see the pictures, but an American Seal vise is a solid old well made vise. if it's got all its' parts and isn't welded or broken i'll give you a WELL DONE.

JPC: great looking vise now that i can see the pictures and you didn't pay too much for it that is for certain. can you see the similarities between it and the American Scale vise i just picked up? i can't recall if yours was produced at American Scale before it went out of business in the early 1960's, but guessing it was off the same castings and or patent.
