Where is the data plate mounted? If it is on the head or block, then that weld indicates that the engine froze once and cracked. If that is the case, after they welded it, it might not have ever run again. It is an interesting old piece, but I don't think that I would do much more than to do a cosmetic restoration of the old girl. To get that working again, might take more time than you would be willing to spend. Clean it up and assess its possibilities and then let us know what you find. Old equipment is always interesting, even if it doesn't work.

It is a Waukesha Engine and the data plate is on the Block. The Weld is real long, But I have seen that done and work fine on old stuff like this.

Looks like the air tank is not original to the trailer, see the cutout on the tongue. If it's been sitting that long the tank is probably shot. Looks like a major undertaking, good luck.

Interesting, have seen much worse engines, not easy to get parts for or cheap. Has had some things done with it. All of the Waukasha engines that I have seen of that age had generators vs alternators.
