Picked up an old Snap-On Torqometer today

I've been looking for an in-lb reading torque wrench for a while now. I don't need them very often, and have been leaning mostly towards the HF or similar 3/8 or 1/4 drive click-type units. At a used a bit place today, I found a Snap-On TEC12FUA for under $15. It is very dirty, and likely hasn't seen the best care, but I figured if it doesn't work, I can always ebay it as-is for parts and get most of my money back.

Can this item be disassembled and cleaned by somebody like myself (a little patience, a little mechanical knowledge, and a little common sense), or would it need to be cleaned by a "professional"?

What about calibration? Can it be done by myself? I do not need to be super precise, and within +-5% would be nice. Are there places that can calibrate beside the truck - and for cheap? (I don't get visited by the truck, since I never buy anything new) How much would I dare spend on it to get it good enough?

What are the advantages/disadvantages of these kind of tool, vs. a click type torque wrench?

(the pic is off of the SO site, and not the one I bought today)

search calibration in google maps and you will find local places to do it, mostly medical equipment type places.
