So we are doing a remodel at work, and I asked if I could have the cabinets from the old front desk area. Answer was yes!

So I ended up with 6 cabinets, 36" wide, 24" deep, and 30" high, a 12' section of really nice formica counter top that I will be using in the garage over my Gladiator cabinets, and another 6' section that I have to figure out a use for.

All for FREE! Pretty stoked. I was going to buy a butcher block top for the garage, but I figure I can get a few years out of this before I need to do that. :D

I like to watch the home improvement, home renovation and "flip this house" shows on HGTV. It seems like every time they are going to remodel a house, the first thing they do is grab a sledge hammer and smash the kitchen cabinets. Seems like a waste when there are tons of people who love to have them for their garages or basements. Hell, many of the homes that get renovated or "flipped" have garages the cabinets could be put in to. I guess not everyone regardes decent used cabinets the way a shop guy does...

Thats because they are morons. I install kitchens for a living. Couple screws and the cabinet is gone. They can smash it to little bits if they want but I don't like to pick up the little pieces. :)

Those shows (and all shows) are only about ratings. People like to see destruction. Going a step further than just cabinets, think about Extreme Home Makeover. They level all the houses. Not counting the ones that are actually falling in or infested with mold, some family without a home would have been glad to move into those houses.

Sorry to hijack, nice cabinets!
