My work was auctioning off some stuff and I picked up a few things for a fair price.

An old Lista thats seen better days. The top drawer is a little messed up but I can fix it. They added a 1/4" steel top to it and pegboard frame. When I'm done remodeling the kitchen I'll probably strip and paint it.

Stackbins made in RI 12x17x9.5 for the green ones. Didn't messure the grey ones

If you don't care about the paint, you can stitch most Vidmars or Listas back together to good functionality with a tig welder. Spot welder would be ideal but most of us don't have that capability. That front could turn out a little wavy though. Might need to shear up a new front end sheet.

I will cut the rest of the spot welds, hammer it out, and spot weld it back. I'll plan on painting it, but it will be a while. It's functional tool storage, which I desperately need. Not a bad deal for $20.

I'm really excited about the Stackbins. I have an early bronco I'm restoring, they will be great for sorting and holding parts. For $15 for all of them, I'm happy. Once I get things organized and functional in the new shop, I'll sandblast and paint, possibly powder coat a couple at a time so it's not a huge job.

Those Steelcase "tanker" desks are kinda cool.
I see sellers asking big bucks for them, don't see them actually selling though.

I got my excellent original Steelcase tanker of CL for $25 and it had been there for weeks.

So who knows??

Just an FYI, I believe there's a thread here somewhere about those steel tanker desks. Bull may have started it several years ago.

There is no question if you are willing to spend enough time and effort working on it you can make the cabinet look really nice. If you enjoy doing that sort of thing, it can bring many hours of enjoyment. I am not into restoring old stuff like that, but a lot of people are into restoration and some people have even made a business of doing it. I guess it is all in what you want to do.

Nice score.. We had several of those drawer cabinets at work at a plant that was changing from one retired engine family to another, and we had several of those cabinets with "peeled back" drawers, from employees getting into them to steal tools, etc. Luckily I reacted to that quickly and put them in a secure location for proper reallocation.

A little update. I was able to pick up another vidmar over the summer (for free). A good friend was looking to get one so I gave it to him. He quickly dressed the thing up.

I haven't had the time to do anything with mine besides clean out the drawers, lube the rollers, and toss some random tools in it. Working, going to school, and kids doesn't leave much time to get things done. Well I finally finished up with school early this month and now have an extra 30 hours a week to get things done.

As if I don't have enough projects I need to catch up on, work had another auction. I picked up 2 more vidmars (one for my buddy) and some conveyors for pretty cheap. I'm going to make some work benches with the conveyors. Hopefully I'll be reporting back soon with some progress on the vidmars.

I was planning on doing a Steevo style workbench with harbor freight chests but I might have to come up with a new plan sense I got the vidmars. The skate wheel conveyors are only 18" wide and the short roller conveyors are 24". I raise rabbits to fill the freezer so one of the roller conveyors will be an outside workbench / slaughtering station with a sink. Not sure what I'll do with the 18"s kind of narrow for a workbench

For desks, check out Public Surplus. If there is a college/univ in your area, they often put stuff on there.
