Picked Up This Not So Nice Chas. Parker Today~UPDATE~

Picked this up for $15.00 at an estate sale down the road from me today. Looks like it was someone's beater and they certainly didn't show it much love but it has "character" to me. I'll clean it up, maybe paint it, but I actually DO have a use for it. Other than the broken slide, which doesn't affect operation, it will find its place on my bench. One question though...is there supposed to be another 1/2 of the part the on the front where it says Parker? Thanks for any input!

That is how it should be, no other half. Good buy for 15$ . Local guy has a Parker for 250$ in very rough condition

Still got a lot of use left in it, but for $15 you cant really go wrong with a useable vise, could make a decent profit from the good parts if you wanted.

Has the dynamic jaw been broken and welded (last picture)? Maybe a trick of the light.
If not, I'd be tempted to scavenge a proper sized piece of cast iron and weld it (or have it welded) in to replace the missing chunk at the back.
What size is it?
Even as it sits, it's a score for $15!

Thanks for the comments guys! As far as the dynamic jaw goes-I see what you mean from my pics-but it doesn't appear to have ever been welded/repaired.
A machinist friend of mine offered to 'fill in' that missing chunk....he says it's not a big deal (for him!) so I may indeed take him up on that. I wasn't really going to go nuts on this vise, but now I think I'll do a complete tear down and make it look pretty! I'm still going to work this, though....I 'll post progress pics soon.

OK, so I've cut down the dynamic broken slide 2.375 inches. Cut was clean so it'll look like it was never broken. I do have one other problem that's vexing me, though...the main nut will need to be replaced. It was abused at some point and re-welded poorly (see pics). Is this unobtainium? The keyway on the vise is perfect despite the condition of the main nut. Anyone have any sources for that main nut?

Sorry for the newb question, but is this Charles Parker the same CP as the gunsmith who founded Parker Brothers (shotguns, not the board games)?
