whats your budget ??

I moved ALL my stuff from the RED Craftsman (see my link below for pictures) to a CRANBERRY KLR761 (54w x 24d) - i didnt have alot of extra room after filling the main roller cabinet (klr761) so i added a side cabinet....and honestly that was enough space for me, w/ some room for growth...the opportunity presented itself, such that i could move up to the BLACK KLR 7023 (72wx29d) w/ the full stainless top.

Because of the 7023's additional wide drawer (vs one in the 761) i actually have a couple of "thin"/narrow drawers empty (for now).

the MEDIUM depth drawers are more useful, for me...and the LARGER depth drawers are the LEAST useful, to me.

It really depends on what you do & where you work - if you were in a shop for a living youd probably want or need some deeper drawers and a side locker.

im finding slightly used (12-18 month old) snap-on stuff on craigslist for 30% or LESS than retail - find it on craigslist or ebay and make 'em an offer (surely theyre willing to deal).

this isnt isolated pricing...between a friend of mine & i we have purchased 4 boxes and either flipped 'em (for profit, after using it) or kept 'em.

I am in need of a toolbox as well. I would prefer a 72” roller myself. Typically I see the 50-56” truck brands for 2- 2.5K. I have not seen any bargains lately. Since I need one sooner rather than later, I most likely wont find what I want at a price that is acceptable. The 56” HF box for $800 is hard to beat. It is 90% of the quality of ANY of the truck brands. Yes it is made in china but it is NEW and 1/3 of the cost! Yes the snap on, matco, mac boxes are a little bit better, yes they are made here, but the price premium is hard to swallow.

Kennedy. Van Wert, OH. nowhere near as common as any of the others, but I've seen a few great deals on CL pop up for a proline roller cab and a red top box. afaik only their cantilevered tool box is being outsourced, the rest has some options. the cheaper brown crinkle ones im not a fan of though.

Everyday, several times a day, just keep eyeballing CL. Go out and see a few boxes. Only rarely are they in the actual condition that the seller claims they are in. You'll see the same boxes list again and again. You'll know that the asking price is too much. Some deals will only last minutes. You might get lucky with one of those. Only then will you be able to immediately recognize a deal or at least a fair deal when it pops up.

You'll be constrained by logistics. You'll need a truck and help and something close by may not be EXACTLY what you want but it may be what satisfies most of your needs.

Or skip all the hassle and cost and just get one delivered to you from strictlytoolboxes.com.

ive been trawling the list witing. the best deals seem to be the 58" cornwell boxes. ppl seem to be asking 1500 ish for them in "good" shape. if there willing to deal, i think its a fair box. anyone with cornwell experience would be a huge help on here tho, couple quick questions

I paid 1100 for the KRL761 and 1k for the matching, never used side cabinet - the deals are there. there are plenty of KRL7xxx's for under 3500 - you just gotta be READY and you have to make the offers under what theyre listed for.

Fflintstone For the $800 for the 52 inch you could get 2 of the 42 inches and have 80 inches for the same money....
just saying

My recommendation is to get a72"x30" deep box. You will use the space and won't likely need to upgrade again. Just my thoughts from seeing many folks keep getting bigger boxes and losing money along the way.

There's a nice KRL 1003 triple bank w/SS top and cover in the classified, looks like he wants around 4K for it.
I've seen them sell used for $3200-4000,which is a great deal for an awesome box.

A shameless plug but we sell brand new scratch and dent LISTA at half-price. We call these our Junk Yard Specials. I get a lot of 20 or so cabinets every few weeks directly from LISTA so it is always changing. We have a few large combo cabinets right now with a few more in the wings.

As always, we offer Garage Journal members with additional discounts. The cabinet pictured was intended for a Mercedes dealership but got a very little ding in the lower rail during transit. The list price on this is $4217.24, we normally would sell this for $2295 but can sell to Garage Journal members for $2100.
