Snap on is always the most recomended for picks. I have a set and they are pretty tough. I have gone threw some other sets, even a decent set from mcmaster carr but haven't bent the snap ons yet.

I like the titanium picks at itstactical.com if you're talking about lockpicks. Regular picks I use some no-name orange handles that do a good enough job at pulling junk coolant elbows and plastic gasket pieces out of ports for me to not complain about it.

Most used by me, HF copy of the 2 double end scribe/pick same "type" as Snapon. They are NOT strong, bend easily, but bend back easy too, and I don't intend to use them as pry bars. HF puts them on sale from time to time for about $2. I also have the larger HF radiator picks.

For a hard tip, best I have seen is the 4 pc set I bought from Ullmann (inspection mirror people). They are mini pick sized, but business end is very strong.
