(pics) Epoxy Question/Problem

I'm not really interested in fixing it, because this is just my basement workshop, but I want to know what went wrong, so I can do a better job on my garage. I used Rustoleum Epoxyshield Professional. I mixed it with a drill attached mixer for a few minutes, then let it sit for 30 minutes. Then I did another quick mix before starting to cut in the edges and roll it out.

There is a few spots where the color is lighter and the sheen is different. Was this just because I didn't mix it enough? Should I mix it further before each time that I pour it into the paint tray?

In the beginning, there were large sections that were a different shade:

How long did it take you to apply? Maybe it started to settle in the paint tray?

Did you mix each can separately before mixing the two together?

From my experience with these DIY kits,you need at least two people.One person to apply while the other constantly mixes the product.Mine has spots like that.It's no big deal to me,I covered most of my floor with carpet.

I haven't used the products, but with any of these epoxys, aren't you supposed to mix the two parts for a stated length of time, and then pour the entire contents out on the floor?

Applied in an hour and a half, but the first picture is the corner that I started with. My wife was cutting in the edges and broadcasting the flakes, while I was rolling out the epoxy from a paint tray.

I did mix up the two parts separately, before combining them, but it was very difficult. I'm sure this contributed to my problem, but I did buy the kit over a year ago, so the solids had settled to the bottom.

I had the same issue with my garage floor - weird off color spots. There was a difference in sheen as well in different areas.
In my case I believe it was not thick enough coat along with settled epoxy like you mentioned.
Luckily when I went to get a second coat of the stuff, I made them mix it for me in the store and the contents were a lot easier to pour out and mix together. Second coat came out great.

Takes two coats to make those products look right. I have done 3 different rustoleum applications in past homes. Use the first coat as a primer and the second will look good.
