I know this isn't garage related per say, but I am hoping that someone out there has pics of designer shower inserts (not the usual white plastic look). I will be remodeling my parents' bathroom this summer and they are fixated on having an insert installed, and will not consider tile...so be it, it's not my bathroom.

I know that these faux stone/tile inserts exist, but looking at stock photos online are sketchy at best, and there is nothing in stock at my big box stores.

Thanks in advance for help

Google image "Onyx Shower". Very high quality stuff that looks really nice. It's not an "insert" but also not tile. Any insert they buy will have to be a remodel kit which will be in 3 pieces and look cheap in my opinion.

Bathfitter has some reasonable stuff that is nicer than the Home Depot fiberglass multi piece stuff.

Thanks guys, and I agree that most 3 piece units look "cheap"...but being that it's not mine, I'm hoping for the least cheap looking lol.

Just recently I had to replace my fiberglass shower insert and was looking to do the same as you. I also was very resistant to tile because of past bad experiences but my friend opened my eyes to the water proof membrane system by Schluter Systems. A little pricy but I guess it's the best water proofing system out there. You loose a lot of room to the plastic inserts too because of the curved basin. I did the work myself except my friend helped me with the water proofing membrane (well he did that part) and I moaned and griped every step of the way but now I love it. I'm really glad he talked me into it, I look forward to taking a shower now.

Costco.com has nice showers sometimes. Home Depot has a special order program for Swanstone - solid surface - not an insert but panels - nice but a bit expensive - faster than tile though.
