I am thinking of going with a 24x32 or 28x32 garage instead of 30x40 like I had initially planned. Money is the reason. Anyone got any pics of there garages this size roughly so I can get an idea of the space? It won't be used for everyday parking. One vehicle will be in there all the time and the rest will be all my tools, toolbox, welders, compressor and such. I am pretty good at organizing and such so I should be able to keep everything out of the way to save space. Thx. guys.

hey Loco, how much is the price difference? Concrete is $130/yd, it's about $105/sq ft finished to build it?? i don't know,, these are numbers i have only heard about "approx" in my area (Las Vegas) Well, let me share with you some experience. if down sizing is the only thing that you have thought of,,, then,,, you should rethink a little.
First, stay with the Largest Size you can into or on that space, and for go the finished interior for a couple years. Once you get the roof over your head,, finishing the inside is easy.

I have a shoebox for a garage,,,, and it drives me INSANE.... 20ft wide X 19ft deep..... 1 big stupid door.

If you have a choice,,, go HIGHER,,,, get yourself a GOOD Bendpak lift.... i just got a SP-7X,,,, i'm installing over the weekend.
Once i get some cash,, i've gotta add on to my house,, and get a 3rd car/RV parking garage.
Trust me,,, you cannot have to BIG,,,, ever!!!

Check out my garage posting

My 24 x 24 Garage

Its only 24x24 but it is setup as you described with the intention of only parking a single vehicle in (my wife's van) and the rest for my work area, tool storage, sporting goods storage, outside storage, and lumber rack.

The price difference is not much.
In a few months time you will be asking yourself why didn't i go bigger when you run out of room. No matter how big your garage is you will always run out of space. Get the max space you can on the land. I know it's going to cost more but you'll thank me down the road. save a little more and get the big garage.

I would strongly suggest waiting another year or so, saving the extra money and build the garage you want instead of settling for something.

You will kick yourself in the **** for not being patient. Ask me how I know....

sometimes you gotta work with what you got man. The house we bought was nice, but the garage wasn't what I wanted, but I make it work, its a measly 18x18, but its big enough for my work bench, tools, car and enough room to move around. 24x32 would be a luxuary to me right now. I gave up a 30x30 :sigh:

I would go as big as possible, I down sized mine from 80x30 to 64x30. Now building my 2nd one, 48x30, zoning now limits size.

How about 10x20 garage? I can fit my 77 BMW 320i in there and my 81 CB900c on the side. In the picture, I also had a 06 Suzuki M50 in front of the CB900. I sold the Zuki and kept the Honda. It was a little tight in there. I put two sets of plastic shelves on the back wall to hold stuff. This is an apartment garage so there isn't much I can do with it but at least its clean. I just bought a house so I will post pictures of the one car garage there as soon as we move in and get settled.

My plans for the new garage is a work bench on the back wall with my toolbox right next to it, peg board behind the bench, coated floors, and shelving above. Down the road will be a 24x24 garage in the back yard.

Not all of us here have huge extravigant garages. We we all hope to in the future.

Well I will be building when I sell my shop which has me spoiled. It is 30x60. Land isn't a problem since I have 2.5 acres of clear land to build where I desire. I will have the money to build whatever size I want after I sell my shop. I am wanting to budget because I also want to buy a nice musclecar since in the last couple years I have had to get rid of all my toys and such due to financial problems like alot of us have been forced into i'm sure. I got a quote for a 30x40x10 kit w/ 1' overhang, 2 9x7 overheads, 3/0 man door for $8950. I figure by the time concrete, labor if I don't have time to do it, excavation, and any other costs i'll be around I dunno $18,000. I just don't want to spend that kind of money right now. I would like to do most of the building myself but with cold weather setting in I would want to get it done quickly. What to do, what to do. I will seriously take your guys opinions into consideration. You guys always got all the answers.
