Luke,

is there a way to take all the pictures in the "Garage Gallery" forum and organize them in to an (ever evolving) picture gallery?

As all of us do, I get great ideas for my garage by checking out what other people have done. But having to go thru each post is very time consuming.

Or a page full of thumbnails and a little link to that actual post?

Or....

thanks,

REFLEXX

I'm still looking into this. Trying to find a way to do it without having to modify too much code.

is washing cars a possibility? I didn't know, otherwise I'd have asked sooner!

I use a brillo pad and acetone, does wonders on the clearcoat.

Nicely done! Thanks Luke.

Now to make each pic a link to that post/owner. Seriously, you didn't have any other plans this year, did you?

:scared: I can honestly say that isn't gonna happen anytime soon. Unless we can outsource the job for a few dollars to some computer sweatshop in India.

Excellent thread Luke. Thanks for all the hard work on that one.

A suggestion/question: www.stangnet.com used to have a feature that was called "my garage". It was a page attached to the user cp where a member could post up four (I think) decent sized pictures of their car and list any modifications, track times, etc for their car. A link was listed under the member's user name on the left side of all their posts. Think something like that could work here? That way, if someone wanted to see a member's garage, or what kind of cabinets they had, or what kind of car they drive, all they'd have to do would be click the "my garage" link and all could be answered.

If everyone made a thread here (or elsewhere, hopefully here) about their garage and then used the homepage link under their member name to link to that page or thread, that would be an easy way to do it.

What ever happened to the thread of all the garage pictures in it? It was a sticky for a while then disappeared.

It was ****** the site bandwidth. I had to take it down because it would double my monthly hosting fees by itself. :eyecrazy:

If you want to save bandwidth, why not offer photo sets in those zips? That way if someone wants to update their gallery, they only have to download the latest release.

Not sure if its already been suggested by how about sticky threads at the top of the gallery forum:

One car garages
Two car garages
Three car garages
Garage mahals
etc.

Like 4 or 5 categories then have people post only links and only the links from the garagejunkies site with 'attached' pics. This will resolve:

- the bandwidth issue as most people will only click on the type of garages they're interested in and also they won't prompt a download of 200 pics the minute they click on the thread

- it will also resolve the issue of 'oh ****, I missed out on the garage because the pics were externally linked where they're no longer available

You're doing pretty good, keep up the good work Luke.

I have to apologize to you guys regarding the whole picture gallery thing. I honestly just don't have the time to really sit down and implement something. I'll try to do something this weekend, but I can't make any promises.

No need to appologize at all. All this extra stuff is just icing on the cake...for those willing to search the pics are still there to find, just not as easy.

I think the sticky threads should be populated by the users not you...you can simply clean up every once in a while to keep the sticky threads' signal to noise ratio in check.

How about just linking to a photo gallery somewhere else? then password it to just Junkies (after they join). So each member can post up a gallery of thier own???

Like MSN photos or putfile? I haven't done it but I'm sure someome here knows how.

almost zero work for you Luke!

It's easy enough to do; I IM'd Luke with some info on it last week but haven't heard anything back from him. I've got some webspace but apart from not knowing how much bandwidth it might take, I don't want to steal any of Luke's thunder...
