Picture problems..again

OK, with a little help I'm now able to upload pix effortlessly.
But, now I'd like to attach a pic I already uploaded to GJ to a new post. I can go to the member controls and find the whole list of all the photos I've uploaded, but how do I get one (or more) into a new post??

Still looking for an answer. Copy to desktop, re-upload into new post works, but is clumsy. There's got to be a better way!

Set up an account. upload your pictures there
After uploading the picture, look for a tab that says MY IMAGES and click

You will see a small or thumbnail of the picture. On the side of the picture you will see 6 little symbols. Notice the one with an i

Click on that i a box will open, in the box it will have something like below:
(img)http://imageshack.us/a/aimg32/7600/q5n3.jpeg(img)

copy that and past it in the body of your replay. It will then look like the picture below this line, only it will be the one you uploaded.

Anytime you want to post that picture, you only need to go back find the picture you want to post click on the i copy and past the text (img)http://imageshack.us/a/aimg32/7600/q5n3.jpeg(img)and it will show up

If you open the picture you want to repost in another post, copy the url, then go to your new post and click the little yellow icon with the mountain in it. It will open a dialogue box, paste the copied url into the dialogue box. your picture will appear in your post. You can also post a url from another place as long as it is a picture. Try it out in the test area.

Thanks, Larry g, but your suggestion only works for offsite hosted pix. The pix I have already uploaded to GJ don't have URL's, just filenames. I already tried doing as you said, using the insertpicture function, but putting the filename in there didn't work. I am avoided offsite hosting because of all the posts here that I would love to see pix on, but they're gone! Host site gone? member ran out of space? Lost somehow? Who knows, but it's mighty frustrating. Specifically, in The Vises Of Garage Journal in General Tool Discussion. It's really reference material, an archive of sorts, but it doesn't work if the pictures aren't there. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't know of a limit on pix uploaded to GJ - I'm guessing that's why the file size is kept so low.

Pepi, are you an urban gold miner? Looks like a gram or two in all those pc boards!

That is new old memory removed from blades of an HP chassis, 408 sticks, 2gb, the upgrade doubled the on board.

Nope, it does work for pictures from other posts.

And, I do not support using picture hosting services for your pics. There are countless threads where the pics are now gone because someone deleted them or renamed a folder.

Attach pictures to your posts. I find it easier than separate hosting. And if you want to move a picture to another post it takes like two seconds to download it to your desktop and re upload it.

Or, just repost the link, as Larry said.

I opened my attachments in the User CP, open a picture that was an attachment to an old post, copied the url, and attached it by the yellow mountain icon. Does it work?

On edit, yes it does. Are you trying to grab a picture from the albums and pictures area in your CP? If so that may be different, I don't have any albums.

I tell ya, there's nothing like a computer to make you feel like a dunce. OK, Larry g, here's what I did (in the Test section)
1.Started a new thread.
2. Went to my user Control Panel, down to Miscellaneous, click on Attachments.
3. A list of my pictures appeared, with the posts they appeared in.
4. There was nothing with any of them that resembled what I understand to be a URL (web address, right?), so I copied the only identifier I could find, the file name, in this case DSCN3801.JPG.
5. Backed up until I was back in the new thread.
6. Clicked on the yellow mountain. A box appeared saying "Please enter the URL of your image".
7 Pasted the picture's file name into the box.

When I posted the thread, two things happened. First, I left the "HTTP//" that was already in the prompt-for-URL box, and added my pictur's filename to it. That caused a small black box with a white X in it to appear where the picture should have been.

Second,, I tried it replacing the "HTTP//" with the picture's file name. This caused the following to appear where the picture should have been: DSCN3081.JPG[IMG].

Maybe this should go into the thread of WTF, because that's sure what I've been saying a lot.

Seems I skipped a step. Open the list of pictures, then OPEN THE INDIVIDUAL PICTURE. Right click, Properties, copy URL (both lines). Then go back to the bear-whiz stained mountain, paste in.[/COLOR][/COLOR]

Right click on the photo. hit o for copy image location.
Then go to your post and choose the photo icon and use control-v to insert the link.

after step 3,
4. click on the attachment and it will open the picture.
5. Copy the URL of the open picture

Paste that URL.

ON edit, seen your last line good stuff. It took me years to figure out this step.
